your fuel system is a return type so your fuel pump is either on or off. unlike a returnless system were the fump is regulated by the comp. so if your regulator is cloged and dosnt let the pressure to bypass it just keeps building up. and when it gets to max pressure it is just workin against...

goin threw some of my junk i found a hypertech chip for a 93 ranger/bronco 2 4.0 efi man. part# 630721. i have a 91 x sport 4.0 man. my question is will it fit my x even though thy have diferent part numbers. it is my understanding that the drivetrain and comp are vurtualy identical.

try the pressure regulator. mine was cloged and made me change my pump 4 or 5 times in two months befor i got off my lasy ass to fix it right. just pull off the return line and turn the key. if nothin comes out then change the reg.

i would look into your fuel pressure regulator. my 91 x was gettin 8 to 10 mpg untill i changed mine now it gets 16. Still not good but better than 8 lol. another bad note is that it was totally cloged and i went threw 5 fuel pumps in a month. stupid on my part lol.

i install lights like the factory units all the time at work they are fairly easy to install we just drill a small hole for the wires and the lights are held on by self tapping screws they seal with a foam gasket they are pretty much identical to factory units
