If I remember right when I installed a DD in my '96, it didn't need any trimming.

What is the depth on the factory box, do you know? I was thinking about putting a JL 8W1v2 in mine.

Hope you know this but be prepared to spend $500 or more just for the sub. I love JL, have JL speakers and subs in my truck, but not worth it to me.

Thier is a "dead" space area in the middle of the box. I didn't want a ported box. This is mainly my wife's rig. I built it that way so had plenty of room for the amps. Also, because I have a dog. So he can't get to the amps or the subs. I didn't want to take up a lot of room. It is the family car.

With the speakers: as long as you don't send the signal through both amps you should be fine.

I'm lost. Are you talking about the center console? If so, what would that have to do with the rear speakers?

So that was in the Ex? And you are putting am aftermarket in? If so, you will only use the plug with the power and speakers wires on it. The other two you will not use.

I'm not sure on Ford's, but with a Durango we looked at, It was all tied in with the factory wiring. They do not use RCA's.

I agree with TerryS1980, go to a few local shops and listen for yourself. Everybody has "thier" brands. Now for my opinion, lol. I'm getting JL Audio TR570-CXi 5x7 coaxials for T-bird in two weeks. But i'm gonna use JL's VR series 5 1/4 components and coaxials for my Ex.

The Elemental Designs sub looks a little too deep for the factory enclosure, though.

I would just use the MDF baffels. Those speakers a designed to run free air.

I've heard that Alpine piece only works with thier rear monitors. If you look at your link, it says nothing about head units.

I did for the first couple of weeks. But now only when we go on road trips.

Mine had two amps. One for speakers, one for the sub. They were mounted on the sub box.

I could be wrong, but if there's a sub, you have factory amps. If there's no sub, the speakers are running off the deck.

If they are a 1.5, why can we fit DD radios?
