How to: 5R55E Valve Body Rebuild Diary

Great thread, thanks for all the useful input everyone! I'm attempting to replace everything listed in the TSB on the first page on my 97. It seems like every website reports the updated separator plate (part no. F77Z-7A008-DB) as discontinued. Does anybody know if it's still possible to get...

    bad problems starting..please help

If it's running lean on both sides then my guess is that the fuel pump's going. They can do some strange things when they're on their way out. I chased an intermittent 171/174 issue on my truck for 3 years. Everyone told me to change the pump, but I couldn't believe it was that since the truck...

2000 Explorer needs a fastener for rattling exhaust

I just fixed this on my 97. I ended up having to saw the bolts off because they were so warped from the hot exhaust leaking out right on to them. I had to replace the downstream part of the flange because it just crumpled while I was trying to get it off. I grabbed a 2" repair kit from Advanced...

    Misfire cyl 4, 5, and 6!

I had the same issue with my 97 around 100k. It misfired on every cylinder when driving in the city, but once I hit the highway it was all good. Turned out I had a chewed up wire that was shorting out to the chassis. Check your wiring and your coil.

How to: 1st Gen Gas Tank Fuel Pump Access Panel

97 2dr sport Thanks for this great idea! I'm contributing pics of my 2-door 97 explorer. The fuel pump is directly under the rear driver's side seat. Here's the view from the passenger door: Here's a closer view from inside: And here's a close-up shot of the hole I cut with the new pump...

    Fuel delivery issue, possibly electrical?

Thanks for the replies fellas. I finally folded and went out and bought a new fuel pump. I chiseled a hole through the floor this morning, and I'll be putting the pump in later today. At least now I can give a little back to the forum :) I'll have pics a little later today when I find my camera.

    Fuel delivery issue, possibly electrical?

Thanks for the quick reply, budwich. I guess I should add a link to the diagram I'm referencing: http://www.justanswer.com/uploads/AutoTechInSTL/2007-11-27_234834_ja1.gif I swear it looks like DG/Y gets switched to GY/O, but I guess I'm just bad at reading diagrams. I've always been interested...

Hey everyone, This is my first post here, but I've been utilizing the site for about five years now, and the information provided on these forums has been invaluable. Thanks to everyone for unknowingly helping me these past few years! Currently, I am having an issue with fuel getting to my...
