RCM (Retraint Control Module) Crash Data

Why take this step of figuring out which one stores the crash data?

    3.5 NA reliability

I can tell you personally the 3.5L N/A is a solid engine if it wasn’t for the internal waterpump. I have abused my engine for 7 years and 4 months. I have taken vast long distance road trips about 2K miles roundtrip each time. I have towed a 2003 Ford Taurus hatchback with 7 people in the car...

    Engine stalls at low rpm

I’m a millenial... and I do like to complain. You should pay respect where it’s due. If you have to flex on a forum then you really need to set your priorities straight. You also need to know that what you are typing may not portray well through text because the tone is missing. This is a forum...

Can I put an EcoBoost in my 2011

I’d consider it a deal breaker if the waterpump is internal in the 2020. I think a good sign to see is to look at the engines on the F150 and the future aviator to ensure the pump is outside.

    2020 Aviator

Any information on drivetrain? If this gets the 3.5L Ecoboost V6 that is in the navigator, it would be a very good luxury vehicle.

    Thinking of trading in Explorer

Hey all, I was thinking of trading in my Explorer. 2011 XLT and the last appraisal told me 11K at 94K miles. Is this a good deal? I’m trying to see if it’s worth trading in at that price point. I’m also worried about the future maintenance like PTU going bad again or water pump failure. If it...

    Sway bar link damaged again

The oem sway bar links are just absolute garbage. I had my sway bar link actually come off at 60K miles when I was driving... I heard some people replacing theirs with the Moog aftermarket one with better results.

Can I put an EcoBoost in my 2011

The best you can probably do is put a 3.7L in it since it’s the same block with the only difference is bore size. An Ecoboost would be too much work to put in probably. Especially because you need intercoolers, different intake, and all that jazz.

How to: New Forscan Update Allows Module Programming

Has anyone noticed that the recirculation turns off after an allotted time? Even before the TSB fix for the carbon monoxide? Has anyone found a FORscan value that would prevent it from turning off?

New car fuel quality and quantity from Ford?

I don't understand the issue...? If you're worried about the gas, then just find a way to drain the gas and put in fresh gas and be done with it. Can't do it yourself? Go to the dealer. It looks like you got your question answered in the very first reply. Maybe asking how to resolve the bad gas...

Hi New Member question about 2013 explorer police utility

Check dipstick. I'd be more worried about the water pump leakage. Even a PTU leak.

    2020 Explorer or Aviator?

That would make sense because the Continental is literally all compromise and no bite. The Cadillac CT6 is just a better deal. Hopefully the CD6 platform helps improve the brand.

    Misfires when using manual mode

What is your mileage? If it’s high, check your sparkplug gaps. If you have the 3.5L Ecoboost, you might have carbon build up in the valves.

    Scratch one 2011 Explorer

Glad to see you're okay! Good thing you chose a fitting replacement! As for the antenna, I am seeing photos on the Ford site showing even base models with the shark fin antenna. Might want to check with your dealer on why the antenna is different.

    5w-30

My family has an F-150 3.5L Ecoboost, and a Ford Fusion 2.0L Ecoboost, both take 5W-30. My 3.5L naturally aspirated in the Explorer takes 5W-20, so I just buy 5W-30 oil for the family and put it in all 3. I've done this since 15,000 miles. The car is now at 90,000 miles. It's fine to run 5W-30...

    2020 Explorer

I'm really sad that it is only going to be the 3.0L V6. It does not feel right. I think it should be the 3.5L Ecoboost V6 for the flagship, with Raptor level horsepower. Sounds like they might drop the Platinum? Really disappointed. I'm sort of disappointed.

PTU and Rear Diff Fluid Change - 2011 Explorer XLT

I wonder if the exhaust location has anything to do with why the PTU oil burning up? Also, I think this says it all that the Ford AWD system is garbage. Lifetime is also considered to last 150K miles so I guess if they advertised it as lifetime, they probably meant it’ll hold until 150K.

Confirmed: Some Exhaust in Cabin when Acceleration issue is From the Front

Yes. Using recirculation after the back was sealed helps a lot but the damn recirculation keeps turning off. The vent definitely pulls a lot of crap from the front and when I sealed it, it was a lot better.

I can confirm I have the same issue. I guess Ford does not want to pay for cracked manifolds though.

How to: New Forscan Update Allows Module Programming

It’s because you bought an ELM327. They are normally wired and have to be modified to use bluetooth and needed to be modded with a switch to do MS-CAN or HS-CAN. I had the same issue. Constant disconnections. Buy an OBD Link MX Bluetooth and you’d be golden. Avoid the wifi one apparently.

Confirmed: Some Exhaust in Cabin when Acceleration issue is From the Front

I'd try to report your findings to in the on going investigation. Leaking exhaust manifolds were common on Police Interceptors as well and Ford should deal with this issue as part of their TSB.

    2014 Sport oil leak?

Crankcase ventilation throws a lot of oil down into the intake. My intake consistently has a bunch of oil in the intake tube... Maybe that's why?
