    Body Mount Bushings

Thanks for that link! I did not look under the Suspension category on Rock Auto, good catch.

    Body Mount Bushings

Many thanks to all that have posted their findings on this repair. I acquired the Prothane kit and just started on this project today. I was able to get "D" and "C" out easily, but "B" and "A" revealed that the upper hardware was seized to the lower hardware. No amount of heat, PB Blaster, or...

    How to: Replacing Camber/Caster Bolts

OK, now I am convinced of the orientation of the bolts as described earlier in this thread. You can't torque the nuts properly to spec unless the nuts are away from the shock tower on both sides.

    DIY Alignment

I recently replaced all suspension components on my 2001 Sport Trac, including new camber adjusting bolts. Here's the setup I used to align the front end. Set lift even on both sides with the torsion bolts before starting. Run a string around the back wheels to a cinder block on both sides...

Solved SOHC V6 Timing Chain Parts Sources

You can overmold a metal insert with nylon, or attach it with another method such as ultrasonic welding. Scissors are a great example of this. But it has to be designed correctly to take into account different expansion rates between nylon and metal. With regard to color, all natural color...

Solved SOHC V6 Timing Chain Parts Sources

I'd like to weigh in on this comparison, specifically with regard to the molded nylon parts. I spent most of my professional career with one of the big nylon producers, and was heavily involved with Ford during development of nylon intake manifolds in the early 90's. So I have a pretty good...

How do you remove that lower 8" trim panel?

    Double Din Touch Screen Radio

Mine does not reboot after it is shut down. It keeps all settings and last played source. Use the wiring harness to make sure you connect into all of the OEM sources.

    Double Din Touch Screen Radio

I just did this with a TUVVA 6.2" 6280, see https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DPF18O8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I used an FMK 552 install kit, worked perfectly. Only had to trim the top and bottom ledges on the faceplate bezel on the dash. See...

    Thanks! What about the tailgate?

Shaving Emblems and Sheet Metal Holes

Searched for this, but could not find an answer for a 2001 Sport Trac. I want to remove (shave) the emblems on the tailgate and front doors. Does anyone know if there are holes in the sheet metal underneath these?

    Cleaned MAF, WHAT A DIFFERENCE!

I did this also on the 2001 I recently acquired with 256,000 miles on it. I have not had a chance to drive it yet, but the idle is noticeably smoother.

door latch problem solved - temporarily maybe??

Big THANK YOU!! for posting this. My driver side front door had this problem, easily fixed with the Advance Auto Parts 29005 spring. Did the passenger side also. Makes the door handle feel more solid also.

    How to: Replacing Camber/Caster Bolts

Thanks Jon. But I will start out with a DIY alignment using some blocks, a string, and a machinist level. This will cover toe in and camber. How critical or adjustable is caster on these vehicles?

    How to: Replacing Camber/Caster Bolts

I was able to install these on both sides with the bolt heads closest to the shock tower. But I had to cut 9/16" off of each bolt in order to get them in.

Oil Filter Confusion - Job 1 Engine

I went back and looked at the owner's manual that came with the vehicle. It is second printing, calling out an FL 820s oil filter. So it was built this way. Interesting that some Job 1 engines did have the metric oil filter specs. I'll continue to use the FL 500s size to avoid filter contact...

Oil Filter Confusion - Job 1 Engine

I obtained a Purolator LH 22500, equivalent to the FL 500s in size. Here is how it looks compared to the FL 820s that was on the engine. Not sure how these filters are fitting this engine, as it is a Job 1 and should take the FL1a. Unless at some point an adapter was installed to change the...

    Cutting Seized Control Arm Bolt

I am in the process of completely replacing the front suspension on a 2001 RWD Sport Trac that I recently acquired. After 255,000 miles, I'm pretty sure the suspension is completely shot. This Mevotech kit from Rock Auto is going in: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...=1366680&jsn=5 I was...

Oil Filter Confusion - Job 1 Engine

On the 2001 Sport Trac I recently acquired with 255,000 miles, I observed that the oil filter contacts the engine mount on the passenger side, see below. Per the Ford Etis build date of 13.06.2000, engine label build date of 5/18/00, and other observations, this is a Job 1 engine, right? But...

    How to: Replacing Camber/Caster Bolts

I believe it would be no problem to torque these to spec no matter which way the bolt is oriented. From the Specialty Products video, the bolts should be torqued to spec before an alignment adjustment is done. With the 3/8" hole in the eccentric washers, a breaker bar or ratchet could be put...

    How to: Replacing Camber/Caster Bolts

Why is this important? I had a very hard time removing the stock bolts on the driver side of a 2001 Sport Trac. The ABS lines and fuel return line are in the way. I'd like to install the new cam bolts with the bolt head on the outside of the shock tower to simplify installation. The camber...

New to Me 2001 Sport Trac RWD Automatic

So far I have replaced the radiator, front pass door handle & door lock actuator, removed the seats & floor mat, and cleaned everything up in the interior. I installed new spark plugs & wires. Seat cover upholstery has been removed and I'll install Katzkin leather seats. I have removed upper &...

New to Me 2001 Sport Trac RWD Automatic

Picked up the Sport Trac this morning. Clean frame and very little rust. No chain slap, shifts great. No codes. Need to replace the outside front door handle and fix the rear window. Ordered new rear shocks and the Spartan locker. The adventure begins!

New to Me 2001 Sport Trac RWD Automatic

I am picking up a very used (250,000+ miles) 2001 RWD Automatic in a few days. The price was just too good to pass up. It is in good running condition and rust free. No CEL codes either. What should I look for regarding final inspection before I pick it up? I'm a pretty good mechanic, and...
