Yeah I know the cases are different that's why I had to get my OSS bound case to work this the job weld hole patch and using the 4r parts to repair the 5r We got it back together to it without any slop or play beyond what it had before everything is tight This weekend hopefully will have it...

    Missing some ooomphhhh!

If the code is OSS then it wouldn't be the tabs sensor on your diff, that is called vss OSS is definately a transmission sensor now your ECM box may not be fried or anything but check the date code on it. If it was ever replaced it could be from an early 98 that used the OSS on the trans . The...

    Missing some ooomphhhh!

There's a bolt in the center of the harness you loosen off and work the connector out. Then there should be a black ISh rubber boot around the ECM with a bolt on either side take that off and the ECM should just slide rot out

    5r55 dissasembly

We got it out. On the donor 4 r there was no snap ring. Plants dropped out nice Got in the 5 with a light and saw that the broken band when it wedged bent the ear of the drum over the face of the planet assembly, ended up using the 3/8 hole in case from carnage to sneak a punch in, drive out...

    5r55 dissasembly

It's not pulling out. It's a 5r55e early 98 ( with the OSS) taking it apart cuz rear most band broke and put a hole in case and shredded the Torrington up too so I think the last planetary is ok I just want to remove it to make sure it's almost like its seized in there
  15. C

    5r55 dissasembly

Ok that was removed but still nothing will come out
  16. C

    5r55 dissasembly

The snap ring is inside? I can't see anything all I can see is the planet gears and that oil cone
  17. C

    5r55 dissasembly

No no after center support the last one with the different band that's at the output end of the transmission

Anyone know how to pop the final section out of the 5r55 assembly

    Missing some ooomphhhh!

Did you at one point change the ECM? To an early 98 maybe was the transmission replaced in the truck before? If so maybe they put the wrong year transmission in and just ignored the error

    Missing some ooomphhhh!

It's funny you mention that 98 s don't have it as my 98 does "02/98". Anyways it is just near where the trans vent line comes out at the back on the drivers side, and has a tiny connector there and tiny bolt. I was disappointed to see this on mine as I was hoping to use my 96 case and do a vb...

    351 w swap

Would maching dampner down. Not change the balance? Why would you need different pulleys. Outside overall pulley diameter won't matter if you using the same trigger it would just under/over drive accessories and I'll be running with out an a.i.r. Pump or an ad pump I'll be custom sizing belts...

    351 w swap

Right but should a person not be able to press the expo crank trigger in place of the 4 tooth. Another question is the flex plate for a e4 the same size as a 4r Reason I ask is because the flex plates are balanced to the crank so one cannot simply swap flex plates Maybe the only route will be...

You can do my method without pulling the motor albeit a little more tricky

    351 w swap

I was under the assumption that the 351 share the same firing order as the HO 302 cam pos senso shouldn't be bad nor should dank trigger wheel as the newer 351 in broncos were obd2 and rocked out crank sensor

    351 w swap

Know this may have been posted before on this swap, I'm going to attempt it this summer in one of my other explorers Few questions for opinions or what none of the it can't be done. Unless there's a justifiable reason 1. Stock4r70 trans. Can it take it 2. Can Henson reprogram an expo 5l ECM...

    1996 4dr v8 swap successful

For the axle disconnect I ended up shimming the pass side mount with a couple fat fender washers, to get the height, elongated holes in mount plates to shim engine over to drivers side, I elongated the holes in the trans mount to shift tail shaft of tcase to pass side, and elongated the holes...

    Cam question

Ny recommendations on a good bottom end cam and valve train setup P heads Efan. 4406 swap , cold air kit, and tourquemonster headers Also. Will I "need" a tune or will it learn itself close enough to remain driveable

Sound will all be different between different configs. Even same config with a different bend will sound different. What supercharger you putting on? And what are you doing about tuning hopefully you can get rid of the 2nd o2 sensors after where the primary cats would normally go

I'm running the factory non California manga flow drop/cat assembly no secondaries full on 2" exhaust to 3" with 18" bottles no h x or y pipe http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSzHUWqXbIc I think it sounds good but it's not as obnoxious as I had hoped and it has way more power then when I had it...

The 4406 should fit in. A 2dr rust be tight around the gas tank for sure As for your manual lineage I grabbed the shifter and boot the bracket that bolts directly to the 4r70 and the lineage piece that goes back to the tcase all from an auto 4.6 f150 ford truck. I would like to think that the...

    Completed Project 5.0 swap - w/ 4406

Looking good I'm about to gut all my hard work from my converted. 96 and swap it into a 98. Without having the motor in there it's gonna be hard to tell if you beat the floor enough for the transfer case. I had to modify the v6 transmission mount to work with the 4r to get mine in because I did...

    4wd axles question

Well the vehicle is actually a 4wd ranger, that I'm, putting a 5.0 into. I've taken apart a 2wd4r70 for its tails haft and tail housing to convert the donor explorer transmission to 2wd. I will be losing the tcase and front driveshaft obviously

    4wd axles question

Searched around on google and here could not find the information I'm looking for I'm hoping to shed a few pounds up front by removing the front diff and cv axles. What would I have to do to the hub so I don't do any damage
  38. C

    Completed Project 5.0 swap - w/ 4406

Well I'm not sure how the electric t cases wiring will jive. Quite possibly you may have to hunt the gem for the vehicle that came with that style tcase. And if you have to you replace the gem it may or may not offer the same front axle control methods. Also I would look into the resistance...

    Completed Project 5.0 swap - w/ 4406

No no not at all what I was saying was you don't HAVE to go with the electric shift to have control over the front axle
