Junkyard Score! EX Superlift Kit!
95% of the time this thing is my daily driver, on road. I drove a 79 Bronco for 18 years before I got the EX and they have radius arm brackets hanging down so I think it will be same old, same old to me.- SWIGIN

The other side of the centering head is the end of the drive shaft. If that is screwed up you'll need a new shaft.- SWIGIN

Why?
I drove a 79 Bronco for 18 years until I got my Ex because I liked them and they are simple to work on. I got the EX because they are simple to work on and I can still have a v8 and after some tinkering I still have my manual 4x4 with lockers and a v8. When Explorers are hard to find (like the...- SWIGIN

Junkyard Score! EX Superlift Kit!
According to the Superlift shock chart in the link I posted above the correct front shocks are #85331 and the rears are #85151. Summit racing has both in stock so I ordered them. If you look for them on Superlifts site they don't come up unless you search the part numbers.- SWIGIN

The problem is Rancho don't make a +4 front shock for the EX or Ranger. Superlift is the only one who make both front and rear +4 as far as a direct bolt on.- SWIGIN

The problem is that will get you Ranger shocks. The fronts will work but the rears do not so it's not that simple. Besides I finally found an old Superlift shock chart that goes by vehicle and I posted it above. This chart should be a sticky for how hard it is to find info on these shocks...- SWIGIN

Luckily, my brother helps him at his JY every other weekend so I get a pretty good idea of what's new. Gear oil for Explorer 8.8 with limited slip?
Hold on there captain gear head, are you saying I use the cheapest thing I can find? You'd be wrong, but is there anything wrong with that....no. At one time basic cheap gear oil was speced for the 8.8 then the spec went to synthetic. So like I said, anything you throw in it will be fine with...- SWIGIN

Gear oil for Explorer 8.8 with limited slip?
Wow, all this over gear oil. If you fill it with any oil made for rear ends it will be fine. If you fill it with oil with no friction modifier in it then add some if you wish. If you add some that already has FM in it then don't add any....or go ahead and add more. It really don't matter.- SWIGIN

I drove mine for almost a year without the front drive shaft and it never moved. I wonder if it has something to do with how the AWD unit breaks because mine parked perfect.- SWIGIN

At my wits end. Water pump just will not come out - 3rd attempt..
Koda gets it, If your going to cut off the bolt heads and then weld a nut on your just doing busy work. Rape and pillage the timing cover first then work the bolts out and if they break you can still weld a nut on but why do that first?- SWIGIN

Do you see where this should have been the first way you attacked it? If you left the bolt heads on you could have simply used a socket to twist the bolt out once you freed it from the timing cover.- SWIGIN

Since you have a new timing cover I would take a chisel and destroy the timing cover where those bolts go through. It is full of corrosion and once you open up the area you can start soaking it with your favorite penetrating oil.- SWIGIN
