98 Lunch box locker with lockout hubs

No, just one off the ground and the 4406 in 4hi, I was applying power with my arms. All you have to do is over power the springs and it will lock. I drove with the hubs locked in and the 4406 in 2wd today on my way to work and other then nearing full steering lock it was very quiet. In fact the...

98 Lunch box locker with lockout hubs

Update, I got my replacement hubs from Rugged Ridge, it took awhile to get them and I have been busy or just plain forgot about them till tonight. The bad lockout pulled right off like it was ready to fall off, the new one fell right on and locked TIGHT. I suppose I just got a bad set the...

    Door hinge interchange

I did that a few years ago so I don't know where I got them but google will help you. Mine are still working fine and I have used them on my last vehicle and they worked for a decade and are still good. I think it all has to do with the install. If you do it wrong they wont last, imagine that...lol

How to drain and fill transmission on 5.0

Right, but originally it was hardline with a short rubber line.

How to drain and fill transmission on 5.0

I don't mess with hardline with an EX, under the radiator on the right side there is a short rubber line that is way easier to get to then the cooler lines. On other vehicles I add a union in the return line somewhere handy and use that.

How to drain and fill transmission on 5.0

The cleanest trick is to unhook the return line under the radiator and start the vehicle and let it idle till the flow slows down. I've done this for 30 years, it wont hurt a thing. The Nice thing is once the flow slows, shut it off and you can dump 4-5 quarts in the tranny and do it again to...

How to: Convert V8 AWD to BW 4406 Manual Shift- A how to thread

I cut the wire off since we don't need it. As long as the axles are turning when you pull the lever you can do it up to 60mph with no problem.

How to: Convert V8 AWD to BW 4406 Manual Shift- A how to thread

The truck front DS was way too long for me. I ended up with a first gen EX DS and added the 627 flange (I think that's the number) to it and it is perfect with no vibration.

98 Lunch box locker with lockout hubs

I got it all done yesterday but had problems. The first problem was when installing the Lock Right, the cross pin roll pin would not go in. So after inspecting the new cross pin to the stock one, the new one had the wrong size hole. Being hardened I couldn't drill it and I doubt your supposed...

98 Lunch box locker with lockout hubs

I've never been inside one of our front rears and I was looking everywhere for the little bolt that holds the pin in place. Seems like it's a roll pin instead of a bolt, is that right?

Will replacing OEM clutch fan with an electric fan cool a 5.0, and increase mileage?

I average 15.6mpg with the stock fan 99% backroads and town driving. If I try a little I see 16mpg, the 4406 helps a lot and my soon to come lockout hubs will get about 1 more mpg. Right after my 4406 swap I left the front driveshaft off and I was getting 17mpg.

PowerTrax No-Slip discontinued for "Dana 35 IFS"

The last post was 2005, it is now 2019 and Aussie lockers have done nothing about this. I called and talked to the owner and got nowhere. Get the lock right 2311 and be done with it.

How to: How To: AVM Hub Conversion, 2006 Ranger

I haven't seen anyone say if they used the O rings for the Vacuum hubs with the manual hubs. I would think it would help seal out dirt and water. Maybe not the O ring on the inside (big end) of the hub but the little one that goes under the Vacuum hub is the one I am talking about.

98 Lunch box locker with lockout hubs

Starting to get excited! Don't you hate when 2 of the same thing shows up in different size boxes like the Timken unit bearings I got..LOL I have never pulled half shafts out of an EX yet. I hope they just pop out then the new ones just pop right back in.

98 Lunch box locker with lockout hubs

I called them and talked to the owner of the company and I lost all confidence in them. I was told they aren't really sure about Ford Dana 35s' and could not help me with the directions they give with the unit. They did finally say that the web site is wrong and we do need #13527 but no help on...

98 Lunch box locker with lockout hubs

I ordered everything needed to install Ranger manual lockout hubs on my 98 EX. I already have done the 4406 swap and decided if I'm adding lockouts I want a locker too. If these are the same axle housings as a 98 ranger why does Aussie locker offer a different locker for the Ranger(13530) and...

    Front Drive Shaft (4406) question

Sliding it over would put the face of the flange at a slight angle to the front one. Worth a try I guess but I don't see it working. Especially since a lot of people had no problems at all.

    Front Drive Shaft (4406) question

Have you tried recently to drive it without the front drive shaft installed?
  40. S

    Switch One or Both Axles

I would complete the SAS and just run it in 2wd and see if you like the 3.73s. If it's too high then go lower on both rears. If you have a V8 it might not be too bad depending where and how you drive. If it's a V6 then I'd probably just go lower right off the bat.
