The MAF oil problem is only if you over oil your air filter. I have had a K&N on my 94 Stang since 2001 and it has never oiled the MAF unit.- SWIGIN

Poor MPG, Good O2 Data with 4406 2wd swap
Your math is good IF you are sucking all 21 gallons out of your tank....which you aren't. I just checked, if it takes 19 gallons to fill your tank with those miles your getting about 14.5 MPG without adding the extra miles the tires are giving you. I'd bet your closer to 15 then you think How...- SWIGIN

Anyone in NJ/PA/NY area ever wheel in Rausch Creek?

Engine rebuild? - The Cost?
My big block machine shop bill was $1200 if I remember correctly. That was boring, hone, decking, head decking and inspection, checked for line honeing (didn't need it), main and rod bearings, crank turned, pistons fitted to rods and balanced, cam bearings installed and new freeze out plugs...- SWIGIN

Intermittent engine "stutter" - Ford Explorer
IMHO, If you have over 100,000 miles on the pump I'd rather change it at my leisure then have it leave me sit or cause problems. Most pumps last much longer then that but if that vehicle was owned by the type that always drives on fumes, that is very hard on a fuel pump. To me it is $100 peace...- SWIGIN

Rear brake upgrade
It could be an optical illusion but it looks like the rotor surface where the studs stick through has a larger diameter then the stock rotor. That could be very handy for the guys who want to drill them for 5 on 5.5. Can you verify if this is so?- SWIGIN

Best Mountaineer Mods?
Adding tow hooks is simple and cheap. http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/index.php?threads/2nd-gen-tow-hooks-my-solution.453385/#post-3583552 I would do an Add a leaf instead of shackles since the AAL helps old worn out springs feel new or at least ride better. 4406 shifter boot
I trimmed the console because I wanted to tuck the boot to the right all I could to gain leg room. My 98 XLT 5.0 Finally Goes Under The Knife
Even though I have 95% of what I need to do the SAS it will be a year or two till I get around to it. So for now I'm going to see if I can fit some 32x11.5-15 on the stock wheels and not rub. Sending unit to fuel line disconnect
Any of those type of fittings get full of road grim and grit. I find that a good hoseing with PB Blaster then without the tool try to slide the two parts together and apart. They will move maybe 1/8'' to 1/4'' or so, then flush again with PB Blaster.- SWIGIN

99 explorer howling noise
My rear howls....no lie. Other than that if you have a V8 the viscus coupler might be out. The sound can travel down the DS and make it sound like the rear is growling/howling. Remove the DS and see what it sounds like. If it's quite you just narrowed it down to 2 things.- SWIGIN

It's probably leaking because the sheet metal the windshield gets glued to is rusted away. With that in mind decide how far you want to go to fix it. Caulk might be the answer for a temporary fix.- SWIGIN

Ever heard of this ''lift'' kit?
My 98 is a 5.0 so the tranny will be fine and I already did a 4406 swap so I have low range. To answer your question, it has 3.73 which is fine for smaller tires like that IMO. I drive mostly on road and like I said, my last daily driver for 18 years was a 79 Bronco with 6'' lift, 35's, and a...- SWIGIN
