Bkennedy's SAS and Rebuild Thread
More questions: I am still not happy with the brakes. They function, but the pedal is hard and the brakes really start working about 3/4 of the way through the pedal. I think the rear brakes are taking too much of the load. The front doesn't seem to dive at all when braking hard, and the...- BKennedy

Bkennedy's SAS and Rebuild Thread
Fixed the binding issue with the steering. Located some narrow 9/16" spacers in my parts bins that fit. Kept the "safety washers" on top of the spacers. Lots more movement in the rod ends. I had to clearance the castle nuts slightly to get the same sized cotter pins to fit though. Also...- BKennedy

Bkennedy's SAS and Rebuild Thread
If the binding is not solved with a small spacer under the washer, I will get a misalignment spacer and throw the washers in my in vehicle parts storage.- BKennedy

DIY rear diff fill plug
When you get a new fill plug, get an aftermarket hex head plug instead of the 3/8" socket. I ruined my stock one years ago and the hex head has held up.- BKennedy

Wow, shock shock! The binding is only at the end of the down travel on the passenger side. I will try a small spacer under the washers to give it all a little more room. I took a picture of the bent washer, but the bend is so slight its not visible.- BKennedy

Can't use a longer bolt because I have BCB's tapered bolts. There is a little room that I can fit a small spacer. I think just a little bit more should work for my suspension. And yes I would like to do a Swamp or Dust trip. Sent from my XT907 using Forum Runner- BKennedy

Bkennedy's SAS and Rebuild Thread
Another question: On the steering setup from BC Broncos, it came with the large grade 8 washers shown in the picture. BCB is calling them "safety washers". I guess they are in case the heim gets blown out and the washer prevents it from pushing past the nut. I believe they are causing a...- BKennedy

Time will tell if they actually hold up. While putting those new reservoirs together, I could see that someone went through them before sending them out. Which, is something they should be doing with all of their products. Funny part was, when I pulled them out of the box, one of the...- BKennedy

Couple pics (not the hard part of the trail because I did not want to get out of the driver seat); The suspension is no where near the down travel limit in the pics.- BKennedy

Bkennedy's SAS and Rebuild Thread
Much better! Went to Corral Canyon on a spur of the moment drive. Just threw the tool box in the back, grabbed some water bottles and the dog, and hit the road. Much better on the faster bumps and washboard roads, better on the freeway, better on the low speed turns.:D On the trail, it was...- BKennedy

Big Bear camp n' crawl...take 2..July ??
I am thinking that Yellow #6 spot might be the best bet. It is fairly easy to locate, and is big enough. The only problem is getting there before someone else get there.- BKennedy

Big Bear camp n' crawl...take 2..July ??
That sucks. It was the best spot to remote camp I have ever located up there. I guess it was just too nice for us folks and it needed to be locked away. The only other spots I know of there are not big enough for more than two rigs to fit.- BKennedy

Let's compile a list of the ideal minimal tools to carry for first gens
Oh, I forgot; Two short pieces of 1/2" OD steel or aluminum tubing and a few hose clamps like Mark said. In case the heater bypass thingy falls apart. Its plastic and gets brittle with age. Use the tubing to bypass the bypass. It happened to me, luckily in my garage. After that, I cut...- BKennedy

Completed Project Kirby's 1991 Ranger Build Up
Subscribing.. I know you will probably make your own radius arms, but the JD long arms I have seem to ride fine on the street. Smoother and more stable than the old TTB anyway. They are about 43" long.- BKennedy

Bkennedy's SAS and Rebuild Thread
Took the Explorer out for a short road trip today. Steering is a little more sensitive with the 4.5* caster bushings installed, but I got used to it fast. Makes a tight turn now. Only dirt it saw was the driveway to the ranch, but I did go over some speed bumps without slowing down in the...- BKennedy

Tbars Project "X" begins
I have had AAA for 36 years and they have always been around when needed. But, I also recently got Good Sam insurance for the RV and dropped it with AAA. Much cheaper per year costs, and they have free towing for the RV and all of my other vehicles. This includes vehicles being towed, like...- BKennedy

How to: Steering mod: Rag Joint to U-joint ZJ Shaft
425, thanks for sending me that shaft. I put it on the back burner after purchasing new bolts, lock nuts, etc. I am going to use the stock Ford through bolt sizing at the top joint, just with a longer bolt to get a lock nut on it. I figure it will not allow as much wiggle as a SAE bolt if it...- BKennedy

Big Bear camp n' crawl...take 2..July ??
I looked through my pictures and found these of the campsite in question. They are actually from 2005, but the landmarks, such as the deadfall and the large rocks, should still be there. Track that ends at the deadfall which passes in front of the site Site looking directly from track- BKennedy

Big Bear camp n' crawl...take 2..July ??
I think I found the spot I was talking about earlier from another BB run thread. 3N14 to 3N97. Turn left or southerly. At the Y in the trail turn right. Go down trail past the group camp until trail splits next to a very pretty meadow. Go left (I think its 3N67C or 3N16C) for about 100 yards...- BKennedy
