    Jack's SAS version 3.0

I ordered a set of 7s last night lol I currently run 4* and am happy with the handling so I may stick with them for now. As always, thanks for all the help guys!!

Thanks for easing my worry guys! What degree wedge bushings are you guys running with these arms and 5.5" coils?

    Jack's SAS version 3.0

Sorry I haven't been on here for a while.. I have noticed zero side effects as far as braking goes, if the tube had spun the opposite direction and the caliper was had moved down I would be more concerned. We welded inch sections at a time and also re welded the front and rear plug welds. So...

    Jack's SAS version 3.0

Torched the LH perch off, welded on a new perch level with the RH side, welded the tubes to the center section. Its back on all fours with no leaf spring clap around turns or over bumps. She lives to wheel another day.. well hopefully more than a day, I'd at least like to get a few more years...

I have another 8.8 and thats prbly what will happen. I still have dreams of 8 lug wonderment and if I pull the 8.8 out from under this pile I really want to put something else in it. But for right now it works. Going camping/wheeling this weekend so we'll see how my shackle repair does.

    Jack's SAS version 3.0

Ran into a bit of a problem while changing out the rear frame shackle bushings.. found a bit of rust. Bummed me out big time. It only took a small pry bar and a couple wacks with a hammer and the bracket was off of the frame. A friend and I managed to cobble up a new mount with some tubing...

    Jack's SAS version 3.0

A few friends are coming over tonight to help me get my butt in gear and get some work done. I promised myself the next few weeks would be spent working on my own vehicle instead of loaning out the garage to friends. Dad and I removed the oe bushings from my donor leaf packs last weekend...

    Bkennedy's SAS and Rebuild Thread

Spend the early hours at work this morning catching up on your thread. What a great build.. always continuing to amaze me and making me wish for straight body panels again lol Oh well, there is always the next build to try and keep the rubber side down.

    Jack's SAS version 3.0

Been a month.. wow. Boxes of parts are just waiting on me to get started, but I can't seem to keep other peoples vehicles out of the garage. I think I have hit a point with this build where I should stop throwing so much money at it and just wheel the setup that I have.

    Jack's SAS version 3.0

truck is currently in the garage, out of the snow. I had planned on starting the front end refresh and arms but I'll be dropping the tank and looking for a fuel leak first. After 23 years I think the outlet on the sending unit has finally rusted through as I had gas rolling out from the tank...

    Jack's SAS version 3.0

I'm still narrow.. have to keep it that way if I want to be street legal in WV. I'm running 5.5 Wildhorses rock crawler front coils up front and a spa rear with an extra leaf. Friend of mine has a 8 lug 44/60 combo that I could pick up. Only thing I'd gain up front is width but a ff60...

    Jack's SAS version 3.0

Ideally coilovers would be the best way to improve the ride up front and move the axle forward but they just aren't in my budget right now. To keep coils and move the axle forward I would have to ditch the duff buckets and trac bar bracket and run a universal bucket instead, that would also...

    Jack's SAS version 3.0

Made it through the weekend without any breaks or flops, always a plus. Got in some situations where the truck performed great and some situations where it needs some re-working. Mainly the rear suspension. It's bouncy, unloads whenever the front drops or I get a little quick on the brake...

stainless sold by pro comp, listed on duff's website Thanks! Let's hope I can get some things done to the truck before all my spare money goes to diapers! lol Getting one last big run in NY weekend, heading to Adventure Offroad Park in Tennessee for their NYD event.

    Jack's SAS version 3.0

After spending the majority of my time at work today reading through BKennedy's sas thread a few things have become apparent. 1) This thread isn't long enough b) There is soooo much good info in that thread 3) It gave me more reasons to improve on my setup instead of jumping to ton axles...

    Jack's SAS version 3.0

selling the 60 and some other parts I had laying around paid for the arms just about. I can't complain about the 44 I built, its held up well and I haven't broken yet so I will continue to run the axles I have until i have issues. I'm still running stock 8.8 shafts so I can't be beating on the...

    Jack's SAS version 3.0

It's a slippery slope I travel with this vehicle. The sheet metal looks like a prune, the inner part of the tub is separating at the wheel wells but the frame is solid and the narrowed hp44 and 8.8 are built fairly well. So do I keep throwing money into it or beat on it the way it is and keep...

    Jack's SAS version 3.0

i actually spoke to behemoth in a few emails last fall about a doubler.. my only thing is do i buy a doubler for the 4.0/A4LD and then when i go to tons and eventually 40s be needing more motor and have wasted the doubler? a 5.0 4R70W combo does open me up to many more options and a more...

    Jack's SAS version 3.0

Thanks man! It was the experience of a lifetime that's for sure. It left me feeling like a d44 and 8.8 are inadequate even though I know they aren't. This 60 won't be narrowed though.. full width 60 and rear 14 bolt, 5.13s and detroits. I really like STTs.. great mix of a radial and max...

    Jack's SAS version 3.0

Bought a couple things recently.. ones in my garage, the other still under a friend's project truck. thinking about links up front, possibly 3 of them, and either more woopows under the hood to turn over the extra weight or keep the 4.0 and go with a doubler.

I have my eyes set on a 06 LJ... one day I'll have it. But for now I'm trying to get the best use I can out of the Explorer. Don't want to throw too much money at it seeing as the body looks like crushed aluminum foil that was stretched back out. I have the extended arms in my garage, just...

    Jack's SAS version 3.0

To catch up from where this left off... the narrowed hp 44 is doing great. No driveability issues, pinion angle is great, corrected a caster problem and performs well. Now on to current issues. It became apparent to me that my rigs cog is too high. I'm top heavy and it shows on off camber...

What did YOU do to your Explorer today?

Changed the fuel filler neck out and got rid of the fuel leak on inclines. mounted my spare shafts to my roll cage. drove 2.5 hrs to Ivy Branch trail system, wheeled double blacks, drove it back home cruising at 75 mph. need to figure out a ps fluid leak, adjust the tie rod and change the rh...

    2015 Ultimate Adventure

serviced the front wheel bearings and hubs, and removed the welded spiders and put in a lunchbox. still on the fence of going bigger so i didn't want to buy a full carrier locker only to have to buy another for a 60.
