I’m still on the warpath. Today i fitted and installed the new grill. It looks nice, the Taiwanese parts leave a bit to be desired. Had to do a fair amount of filing to get them to fit right. Yeaterday I wet sanded the headlights and clear coated them. They turned out pretty nice. Im going to...- SuperGordo

I totally get it. Considering this is for my daughter and first grandson I don't want crap tires. Just a bit surprised at how much an average sized 15" tire is right now. Just crazy. I can buy them on my discount tire card but I'm waiting for a 2022 Explorer ST my wife and I ordered to show up...- SuperGordo

Only Problem I'm having currently, is the EX is stalling on cold starts. Think I have a vacuum leak. Otherwise once it warms up it runs really well.- SuperGordo

1998 Explorer 5.0 “Restoration2021” project
So far my initial running of the Ex project is good. Had to seal up a tiny coolant leak coming from a plug in the water neck. I have no oil leaks, no power steering leaks, no tranny leaks. That's good news. Found a burn hole in the vacuum line that goes from the vacuum tank to the firewall...- SuperGordo

Great ideas, thanks! Its the details that will get you in the end! The current tires are total crap. I need to finish cleaning up the Ranger wheels i picked up and get some nice rubber mounted. I still want to service the tranny and the Differential. But im behind schedule and a bit over budget...- SuperGordo

You sure did! Nano seconds!! Its running pretty smooth, though i think the IAC valve isnt perfect. If i rev it a bunch, it cant keep up so well and died a couple times. Also the new thermostat housing i installed has a plug on top where a sensor could go. Well i should have pulled that and put...- SuperGordo

Well the 98 Eddie Bauer is decent. Trans is bad, thats no problem. I would have bought it but the people bought it 6 months ago, signed the title and never had the title transferred. So they need to go to the dmv.- SuperGordo

That makes sense. But the Awd isn't a deal breaker. Especially in Las Vegas. Just working on this 98 has renewed my love for the 2nd Gen EX. And I really like the 5.0/4r70w combo. So why not have one for myself while I can find one, or two....;)- SuperGordo

So I found out that the 96 limited I'm looking at is 2wd, but today I found a 98 Red Eddie bauer also 2wd with the 5.0. Guy is asking 700. The Trans is bad. Going tomorrow morning to see it and make an offer. Gonna offer 500, but the paint is really nice still. So maybe I'll go high as 700. Then...- SuperGordo

I know some people don't like the big 6 speed plus trannys. They describe them as "hunting for gears" all the time. But it's certainly up to the owner. If it makes you happy, do it!- SuperGordo

Don't have much experience with those at this time. As they hit a certain age they all come to me. But at this point I'm not sure the expense of the trans and a controller accounts for the cost of swapping one of those trans. But in the end it's up to you and what you want..- SuperGordo

Today I installed new AC hoses. Did the suction/discharge hoses and the liquid line. Had to put the heat shield on the AC compressor, because I forgot to put it on before i installed the compressor.
