strange problem, need help
What would a full diagnostic cost at the dealer? having the diagnostic unit hooked up to plug wires, and sensors would help you along for sure.- Dono

strange problem, need help
the ac thing is normal. wtf is causing the intermittent plug firing signal? the plugs fire in pairs, so you have 3 wires to check (and ground). how do you check these? a scope would be a fantastic thing right now. crank position sensor on its way out? thats what signals the pcm to...- Dono

heads are off and reserved me a surprise!
If you still want to do a cam, you might want to look at a cam from delta cams. I did see a power increase (Its like the 410 cam), but not like JD saw with his 422 cam. With the delta cam (Its very inexpensive at under $100.00, as its a re-grind) you don't need dual springs on your heads...- Dono

MAFS testing
I say cut the temperature sensor wire to the fan, and just wire the fan so its on all the time (Just for a morning) and see if your issue goes away. I can see the resistance (Less resistance, actually) of something else on the same temperature sensor causing issues.- Dono

heads are off and reserved me a surprise!
If your going 411, might as well go 422 if the heads are off anyway. I wish I would have done it. The cam profile on the 422 doesn't have any more overlap than the 411, its just more of a square lobe (Thats why you need the dual rate springs). Why comp cams says its no good to use it with an...- Dono

Noisy ValveTrain-OHV...........Delta Rockers?
I'll see what I can find out. I did reply yesterday that we were hoping to find some higher ratio rockers that would work. Tee rev is a machinist by trade and owns his own machine shop. He has made our ohv's go fast, so I would think he has a pretty good idea what can be done that's reasonable.- Dono

Noisy ValveTrain-OHV...........Delta Rockers?
tee rev says he even worked half of xmas day, so he hasnt had a chance to do the rocker spacers yet. I also asked about the rockers in the url above, and he says they will not work. He didnt give any more info as to why.- Dono

Im interested in how this pan's out. JD, your motor is pretty free flowing now. If I read this right, you may not get a ton of boost showing and will still get quite a bit more power. Is this correct? Lots of good info coming out of this.- Dono

Cheapest place for wideband and boost gauges?
I like the less expensive boost gauge. It's more of a reference thing, and I'll be trying to hide it in a out of the way, factory kind of setup. I like the ash tray moulding idea for this. The ash trays only a change holder anyway. Thanks guys!- Dono

Noisy ValveTrain-OHV...........Delta Rockers?
Xeek, you would be fine with what you have. I quit this when I couldn't find roller rockers, and emails weren't getting returned. Id love to see if these rockers would work. Any extra flow is good flow. I wonder if they will line up for the push rod, and strike the valve shaft ok without...- Dono

strange problem, need help
You definitely have an issue on your hands. What are the odds of calling the old owners and asking them to come clean with you on the issues they had, and what was done? It might help point you in the right direction, and save you a few bucks in re-doing what has been tried already. Do you...- Dono

strange problem, need help
Turdle, have you opened one up? I'm wondering if there is electrolytic capacitors in there that might be drying out? Ive heard of this, but never had to live the pain. So, in theory, if the o2 sensor connectors are switched from end to end, the rich condition should follow, or the pcm is...- Dono

Removing timing cover on 4.0 OHV
Nice! Thanks guys!!!! snoranger, I had actually thought of your method, but that meant I would actually have to think about which way the motor cranked, against which way the bolt spins on/off. So, your method works for removal, Correct? Fast Dave, your method works for bolt installation...- Dono

Change Engine Computer
You have to admit, the picture is pretty funny, given the lack of info provided. It wasn't meant to offend. Now, its not quite that easy to get more power out of these things. If your looking the computer route, I'd say re-program your computer. Factory targets are pretty conservative, so...- Dono

Cheapest place for wideband and boost gauges?
Not wanting to pollute any threads, I thought I'd see if anyone has suggestions for inexpensive Wideband o2 sensors and gauge. Boost kinda falls in to this also. I need a wideband that has analog 0-5v output so it can be wired to an sct device as part of datalogging. I think this one will do...- Dono

I know what you mean JD. It doesn't exactly look easy. I do think if you had the time and the desire, you could get a handle on it. Somehow, I don't think you have the time (At least not to learn all that for one tune). Anyway, I just thought this was extremely relevant to this thread, and...- Dono

Definately not a tune yourself thing, but it does open you to datalogging, and installing tunes you are given. It would also allow you to make minor adjustments yourself as you learned the whole thing. I saw it as a possible cure to an issue that might come up. looks like a cool product.- Dono

99 EB 4.0 need brake & rotor recommendations...
Demystifying? Quite the opposite for me. So, they are saying that the ceramic pads we purchase aftermarket for a premium price are not really ceramic pads, and are actually low quality as far as noise, and wear, and friction? They sure make them sound like crappy pads.- Dono

Removing timing cover on 4.0 OHV
I changed my cam, timing chain, and gears with my 4.0 ohv still in the truck. Snoranger is right, its a pretty simple thing to do. Taking your fan blade, and balancer off will be the hardest part. You will need a strap wrench to hold the motor in place to loosen the balancer bolt. I'd...- Dono
