    ABS wipes rotors when raining?

the only system info I can find for an ABS system that does clear wet rotors doesn't come active with cruise on or speeds over 20mph-30 mph. oh and I'm a meat popsicle.

Traded the Explorer in for this.............

I can't think of a good one but I'd go ahead and join more than one. if you need information sometimes there are things on one, not on the others. etc. but the biggest is mustang forum - that I know of right now. meanwhile are you planning to tune it? and make sure you claybar it when you...

    Dimming side mirrors?

as I mentioned you'll need to have the auto-diming review mirror. Then you'd need the new dimming side mirrors - wiring of both pieces to the right pins on the tray that is the GEM module - potentially an additional fuse (would need a wire diagram to verify) and a software update/OPC load to...

Does the Ecoboost cut boost/power when cold? Test driven car seemed slow.

From what I see the sports have bigger rotors - and what appear to be bigger caliper/pad area. but I'd need to get a wheel off and measure to be sure. It would see that you'd need 20's on any other explorer model to clear the sport brakes.

Does the Ecoboost cut boost/power when cold? Test driven car seemed slow.

I would say it's setup well for most drivers - and is more a showcase of the handling ability of a 4600+lbs taurus station wagon on 20's. and for what it is and a FWD biased device (until pushed hard, or of course returned/calibrated) it handles very well. I know some drivers don't like the...

    Dimming side mirrors?

considering yesterday's post and thread I find this one hilarious. Also thanks Peter for that bit on the electrochromic system. I would say to retrofit on a car that didn't come with you'd probably need to replace your rear view mirror if it wasn't auto dimming. then you'd need wires and a...

Does the Ecoboost cut boost/power when cold? Test driven car seemed slow.

lol - I like those and the Audi RS6 avants. Wished there were more American car wagons available. Like the Chevy SS - it's AUS counterpart comes in wagon form. would own.

Does the Ecoboost cut boost/power when cold? Test driven car seemed slow.

yes and no. I mean if driven gently it will respond gently most of the time - but it does always have the "oh hell" full throttle, gung ho mode. but if under 1000 miles on the dash - I'd suspect there's a touch of break in protection algorithm, and a touch of oil temp and water temp are...

Does the Ecoboost cut boost/power when cold? Test driven car seemed slow.

Outside Air temp makes quite a bit of difference to the ECU adjustments too. let's not rule that out. Also didn't think about the dealers not putting 91+ in them, but good call on that too. also I would think there is a break-in mode where the engine won't run full hard until it's past...

Does the Ecoboost cut boost/power when cold? Test driven car seemed slow.

I don't know 100% for certain. but I do believe there is a timer/sensor loop to make sure the oil, turbo bearings, and what not is up to temp and fully moving. also based on your other car - I'd say without an actual timer in your hand - your perception is indeed skewed. (as is mine when I...

    Oil Change interval

So I didn't read the whole thing - but has anyone looked up or mentioned how the OLM system works? If I recall correctly it's even slightly explained in the book. There is no sensor - other than oil level. it's a time/usage calcualtion calibrated and run by the ECU. IE - fresh oil and...

    Am I being too impatient?

Since I don't know your dealer - I will assume they are a crappy dealer like many. Why because that seems to be all you hear about. if however you know your dealer well - and I'm off base here - then ignore me. But - often dealers take the if they stop talking about it I don't have to do...

    Front Strut Bearings (2) Replaced

Well there went that theory. There are cases of premature failure on parts, statistical calculations etc. it does happen and it can happen with just about everything made. sucks though. without looking at your car - and not knowing how you bought it etc - I almost want to say perhaps the...

    Oil analysis, 14 Sport w/ 28k miles.

romping on it will blow out some of the carbon so to speak. but on the ecoboost - with it also being a DI engine. There is some risk of carbon buildup around the injectors, and around the intake vales. some because of PCV return fumes, and some because it's not getting hot enough to burn...

indeed - like saying guns kill people. no people kill people.

    ABS wipes rotors when raining?

NO but there is so much miss-information on the internet and various non-sensical mythos quoted about cars and the like. Also no - just because the OP has a limited doesn't mean he has a rain sensor on the car as auto- wipers aren't standard. AND as I mention later in my post just because...

2016 Sport No Auto windows for rear

oh gee you have to hold a button for what, 4 seconds - less. I mean why oh why can't I just control it with my phone or voice commands. Gah. Disdain stated,. I have to check but I think from the DR door controls they are all auto down - and perhaps auto up. but I don't know of any other...

    Sport Oil questions & Analysis

well they aren't going to say flogging the car in traffic. but, yes preimum is optional the computer will protect the engine. As I also mentioned the difference in adjustments is highly tied to your out door air temp and humidity. you're in mid Canada I see - I'm In the mid-south. Our high...

    Sport Oil questions & Analysis

pardon my bluntness but no it's not. read the ecoboost specs and your manual again. Those HP and TQ numbers show with an asterik to say on preimum 91 octane only. Yes it will run on 87 - so will my GM built LS3 - but both engines perfer preimum higher octane gas. Why - knock and...

    Sport Oil questions & Analysis

true - I like to tell people just make sure the water temp gage has moved off bottom from a cold start. I recommend the better gas for the ecoboost (and the non boosted in hot weather) because it will let the computer use the higher timing values - AND it leans out the mix since it won't have...

    Sport Oil questions & Analysis

romp on it more and use better gas. serious question though - why Mobil 1? and where are you? Does the sport want 5-30 because I assumed it did but don't remember what the book said? would you consider swapping to something else - and no I don't mean amsoil - though I do use it in my 2...

    Sport Oil questions & Analysis

yeah +1 to the rubbish that the 5-20 spec oil doesn't lube properly. thing to note - unless it's changed in the last 3 years. ALL 5-20 spec oils that meet Ford, GM, and Merc specs are syn blends or full syn oils. Now in the extremes - they do fall short - so if you're out in arizona in the...

    Sport Oil questions & Analysis

I wouldn't go so far as to call it a ton with a new turbo'd mill. and only 28K on the clock. would be interesting to see the first one though, and also compare to a known same test engine. I'd equally suspect most of that is ring metal and the copper is perhaps some cam bearing metal. -...

so I guess multi-quote doesn't work well on this site. anyway - when you say washer on spin cycle what do you mean? Not to be a // but my washer is very quiet. do you have a grinding sound, thumping, or a whirring sound? does the frequency go up with vehicle speed - does it get louder...

    2016 Questions

I'd have to see where someone actually drove them back to back on a test track with instruments to prove it. but I'd say they should be the same or very very near each other. GVW on both is similar, the trans gearing and engine power is the same, aero despite what some would say is the very...

    ABS wipes rotors when raining?

I'll sit partially corrected. while I know that most cars have electronic brake force distribution - IE instead of just an on and off of the brake line hydraulc pressue to each individual caliper - the newer systems have a variance range (think 100%, 80-40%, 20-0) so as to gently apply one...

    ABS wipes rotors when raining?

I don't know why people say this. NO - the abs system does not wipe the brakes in the rain. does your car have a rain sensor? why would it only apply on one side? you're getting a pull because depending on tire treads patterns and and speed etc - standing water will cause more drag on one...

    2016 Questions

mostly you're getting size for trading out cost of features. I liked the edge as well - but we felt we needed the space the explorer would provide. Honestly if it wasn't for the wifey absolutely refusing to even drive one - I'd have a flex in the garage. in between the pricing, more space...

    Dead battery lessons learned

so back to the battery thing. forgot 2 pieces. when you replaced did you replace with another sealed up battery - did you put the vent tube on? and if you check that AC voltage step again - before the test touch your 2 lead to each other and let the meter stabilize to 0.0 Most meters do...

Does the adaptive cruise interfere with radar detectors?

my escort 9500XI hasn't been set off by adaptive crusie but it will go off on K band, with low signal when I get in the blind spot cone of some cars with blind spot monitoring. notably so far they've all be GM products - so I'm sure it's a frequency they picked sort of issue. I have to image...

    EcoBoost 30 Nano ~3,000cc 2016- DOHC V6

Is this about the supposed 3.0L ecoboost engine? do to put fuel to a fiction fire, with a grain of truth. since the advent of the 2.7L ecoboost, the 3.5L ecoboost is eventaully going away. reasoning - in the EU they are taxed on engine displacement as well as total cost of the evil car...

I think maybe some threads merged. This is a good data point. Probably a software patch - but like all computers they need a good reboot from time to time. the using the keyfob to unlock is a hard code way to trigger the security system to notice the key. There is a larger burst of...

Do you recommend installing HIDs ?

that's why I say most - not all. how were they different, I'm curious. On a different issue - the bit about the BCM shutting down. it's feasible you miswired something. on some kits - they are general enough that the plugs to the OE headlamp cord are reversible. because halogen...

Do you recommend installing HIDs ?

So my minor disagreement. Most (and this is why I say minor) - OEM headlamps that are projector with halogen - accept HID bulbs with proper focal length for the HID hot spot. there are 2 reasons for this - Halogen bulbs have a broad enough space to accommodate - and because most of them...

Huge +1 to this - any bulb replacement and adjustment, re-aiming is necessary. or well should be done to verify.
