    1:64 Explorer Project

Yeah, it's a die cast, by Maisto. Can find 'em on ebay if you're interested, and to correct myself, it's actually a '95 exploder. Hadn't ever seen your kit, would've been interesting to get that too

    1:64 Explorer Project

Oh there ya go! Funny I got the idea a few months back and am doing something similar! I bought this 1:24 scale explorer to make eventually look like mine, technically a '97 vs my '99 but we'll just roll with it. Just haven't take the time to work on it yet. But maybe soon since theres less on...

    97 Sport build number 2

Not a horrible idea, a little less possible trouble to deal with in the future. Either way is a decent choice, look around for both with good pricing and in good condition, pick from there. Good luck on the swap to either 4.0, keep us posted!

And there we go, they're on, not perfectly. Smacked 'em once with the hatch accidentally, trying to get a rough estimate of where to set them. But they're fine, just a scuff

And here we are, just waiting for the last layering of clear coat to dry. Should have them on by tomorrow afternoon! Used a hammered black (literally couldn't find any standard gloss black anywhere) spray paint, which as expected came out more grey than anything, which isn't too much of a...

    -Deathrow Update Log-

The tail light guards are sanded and in the works now. As well as another project officially beginning: a good ol' expedition roof rail swap, for an extra 11" of length, with four cross members. After that, a roof basket to cover the whole roof top, about 80" worth! The black hole from...

    97 Sport build number 2

Sorry to hear man, I'm almost in the same boat with mine. Only a matter of time now, been pushing my luck for some time now. Issue is trying to find a place willing to do it

    Foglight rear defrost bulbs

Yeah, that was more complex. The rear wiper one had to soldered on, but it was easily done. https://carradiobulbs.com/store-4/1997-2001-mountaineer-explorer-rear-wiper-switch-led-bulb/ The 4wd one, well this setup doesn't actually work for our setup. I just took the original mount, pulled the...

    Solved 4.0 SOHC Ticking Hunt

Okay, just the guides then, probably have to have an auto shop do it, (hate, hate to do that). But I don't have the equipment, time, or anything to pull the engine. Saw from a few others threads on here, its estimated at more than $1500 to do??

    Solved 4.0 SOHC Ticking Hunt

Well, I'm glad to know at least. And to be sure, I should just need the guides? Or do I need the timing chain itself too? Normally I'd prefer to replace it too while I have it apart, but if there isn't a need, I'd rather be cost effective if I can

    Solved 4.0 SOHC Ticking Hunt

So, what am I doing for that? Probably do a new tensioner too while I'm at it, just in case

Not very much progress on anything but diagnosing issues. But I did get some christmas decorating done on her!

Not the best quality, phone barely picked up anything. But you can hear the ticking a bit at the end

    Solved 4.0 SOHC Ticking Hunt

When and if I need to actually do this, yeah, a video would be very helpful, just so that I'm a bit more sure I'm doing it correctly

I agree with the video bit, definitely appreciate the detailed description though!

    Solved 4.0 SOHC Ticking Hunt

Yeah...: 222k miles, not sure if it's ever had the tensioners messed with right off hand, when I get back in a few hours I'll check around for the soot first. If it's the chain tensioners, I'll definitely look into the manual tensioner, does seem to be more recommended! Thank you for the input!

    Solved 4.0 SOHC Ticking Hunt

Okay, know this has probably been covered, done several searches already and just want y'alls opinion on this. Had an engine tick for several months now, always ticks until I'm up to a decent speed, or it's just not loud enough to hear at that point. It speeds up with the rpms, if I hit the gas...

I never noticed those extra lights around the third brake light, how well do they work for ya? Rack ain't bad either, planning to weld bits of it as support? See a lot of people recoat and weld them so they last

Annnnd now I've added even more to my list of to dos, can never have enough projects. Finally got these suckers in, some stainless steel tail light reinforcement/guards, need to paint 'em black now so I can throw them on. If anyone wants a link to the tail light guards, feel free to ask, the guy...

    Help...02 Explorer Sport New owner

I'm still not 100% on the exact name of the trim piece, but rear hatch handle cover seems to work. Can find them on ebay, at at junkyard, and probably a few other places too, weirdly high priced. But heres one I found on ebay that doesn't look too bad...

    -Deathrow Update Log-

Okay, so I'm finally doing this, going ahead within the next few weeks with new tires, wheels and some suspension replacements. Have everything for the front end suspension (detroit axle), even getting some new torsion keys. For the rear though, I already have the warrior shackles on her, found...

    -Deathrow Update Log-

They're not on backwards, the ends are just bolted onto the boards so I just switched the ends they were on. Honestly the plan eventually is to get something more like rock sliders. May just take the current ends off and customize a flat cap so that they don't angle under or out from the truck...

    -Deathrow Update Log-

Went out for a bit of mud, first time through this pit I found it to be much softer than anticipated, almost getting myself stuck. So the video only covers the front half of the mud, but I've got a few pics of her. Would've liked some more mud, but most of the pits were too soft to even think...

    Dumb teenager question

That and some lifted shackles for the leafs, most of us that I see us the warrior 153 shackles. Also, yeah, welcome to the forum!
  35. DemonMudder

    -Deathrow Update Log-

Well that's that, had to switch the ends so that they stick out rather than in thanks to the skirt being in the way, but honestly it's not too horrible looking. Definitely needs a paint job but there's a time for everything, and that is not right now lol

I chipped off whatever coating was on them, to get to one of the rubber inserts, looks identical to your picture.

    -Deathrow Update Log-

So pretty much, get that top insert out for the third bolt on each mount, and it should mount fine? Have plenty of clips for the bottom bolts.

    -Deathrow Update Log-

So first and foremost, running boards. I picked up a set from the junkyard from another explorer like six months ago, bolts and all. My exploder, only came with a skirt, but wanted the boards as well as the skirt, any idea if I can add them without taking the skirt off? Or am i just better off...
