Late 80s B2000 Advice
But how expensive or complicated to make that work in the mazda? Have to find an adapter to run whatever transmission as well, and maybe I'm just not so good at finding 'em.- DemonMudder

Once again face the issue of weight, the trucks only 2700lbs, that 4bt is about 750lbs or so, that's literally a lil' over a quarter of the whole trucks weight added to itself right there. I mean, I can always try and reinforce things up front (may not need but likely to do), but that makes the...- DemonMudder

Yeah, that mercedes engine I mentioned is around 470lbs, so not far off, but still better so far. Don't like the 90 day at all, makes me worry why it's so low..- DemonMudder

Late 80s B2000 Advice
That's the hope of just any diesel I throw in, whether it be a five cylinder Mercedes one or a cummins, don't need a lot of power to make that thing nice! I will say it's easier to find a 4bt, probably easier than that 2.8l, so that's definitely in the running. Though the weight of the 4bt I...- DemonMudder

Not bad, but still not that high, averaged 23mpg, even the 4bt from what I'm seeing made the same or even sometimes made better than that.- DemonMudder

Jade Pearl Update/Build Log
A/C finally fixed! Didn't replace everything I originally planned, but the compressor was all I needed! Works so good! And don't "think" there's a leak, but I'll be keeping an eye on it, also going to get a thermometer so I can actually tell the temp, but dang is it nice to finally have cold air...- DemonMudder

Late 80s B2000 Advice
A 4bt would be nice, but they're not as fuel efficient, plus they're heavy. Though for the power end it would be a good deal, but I'm looking for an equilibrium of power and efficiency. I want more than the stock motors 85hp, but I still want it to be a much better daily than either the explorer...- DemonMudder

The OM602 is the one I'm looking at. Hoping I'll be lucky and find an E290 version either 127hp from a mid to late 90s Mercedes W210. Yeah, from what I can find thay five cylinder was able to handle a good amount of power without too much work, plus it was pretty efficient and reliable. Figure...- DemonMudder

Late 80s B2000 Advice
Alright, found a new idea recently, well, a couple of ideas actually. So one is that the mazda has a 117.5" wheelbase, and a single cab short bed 90s k1500 had a 117" wheelbase, so now I'm tempted to try and body swap the mazda onto that frame and drivetrain. But, keep in mind the main reason...- DemonMudder

Yeah, that's why I'm not saying yes or no yet, just definitely a better chance since I may have found a good donor! And as said, still may not go anyway due to funding, getting the engine and tranny are gonna pull a lot of cash away, so we'll see! Really hope to go, miss the mountains! But I'll...- DemonMudder

Okay, small chance I still make the trip! Found an engine for the X that I'm gonna do some quick repairs on and just swap right in! Least I hope, going to try and grab it tomorrow morning! So we'll see, I may be ready! Not sure I'll have the funding yet for a trip like that, but I'm still trying!- DemonMudder

If it genuinely means tearing apart the whole transmission to do so, I'm not going to bother, I've got a good 4wd tranny in the X already, I'll just touch it up some while everything is being swapped around and fixed anyway. Then I'll keep the 2wd 5r55e for the mazda with either a 4.0 sohc or...- DemonMudder

Yeah but this is a 5r55e, which from what I can find from a couple others seems to be more of a solid rebuild in order to make it work, and that aint worth the effort. But if I can, and if it's still there when I have the money, I'm going to grab it either way, and use it in the mazda, maybe, I...- DemonMudder

Alright, so, found a SWEET junkyard X I'm going to try and nab stuff off of, a '99 with really low miles, that I'm going to grab the drivetrain for a donor for mine! Mudflaps and rear spacers finally on, need to put the front flaps on eventually too, least I should for the rocks. But the rear looks pretty darn good! I want to give it more volume bost mostly deeper and rumbly, a V8 sounding V6 pretty much. Probably keeping the cats to avoid the rasp so much, so may a 44 ya think? Got dual 44s on the 350- DemonMudder

Late 80s B2000 Advice
Alright, so let's hear some opinions on options here. So: rebuild the current 2.0l with a measly 85hp at best, rebuild the 2.0 but add a turbo kit for at least extra hp, swap the engine for a 5.3l, or just fully body swap the truck onto like a 5.0 explorer? Keep in mind, the explorer...- DemonMudder

Well, new one in, right back at square one...this is getting on my nerves. Possible light setup I'm thinking of going with, first being as is, which I'll keep as a backup since 99% of it works and works pretty well.
