5.0 tuning
Just wanted to follow up on this thread. I've been digging around the last few days at the various DIY tuning options (Quarter Horse, TwEECer, etc) and this seems to be the most in depth discussion at EF. @decipha - Did you end up going further with tuning a 5.0 Explorer ECM (or alternate ECM...- fastpakr

How much oil?
Good question - I'm really not sure on the 5R gasket. Seems odd that they wouldn't use a rubber/steel gasket. I didn't catch that it wasn't one until you said something.- fastpakr

I can't find an aftermarket reusable gasket for the 5R55E - you really might have to order that through Ford or search for a supplier online. I think the part number is F5TZ-7A191-A.- fastpakr

How much oil?
My aftermarket gasket doesn't leak at all. No sealant required either. That said - if you want an OE style 4R70W gasket, you can pick one up without going to the dealer. The ATP LG204 is designed the same way. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005R4J1QI- fastpakr

Intermitent Belt squeak car dies if idling with AC on.
The chirp does not occur with the serpentine belt removed, and was present last Fall when I first had the engine running on the old synchronizer. When I reassembled the top end a few weeks ago with the new synchronizer, it's still doing it. Pretty confident the problem is elsewhere.- fastpakr

Intermitent Belt squeak car dies if idling with AC on.
I've been chasing a similar squeak on mine since the V8 swap. All new idler pulleys plus cam synchronizer and air conditioning compressor. I pulled the serpentine belt off and turned each pulley individually. The only one that feels a little odd is the A/C compressor as it free rotates around...- fastpakr

How to: Convert V8 AWD to BW 4406 Manual Shift- A how to thread
The only relevant added wiring is what I've done to make the shift lights work, but that's got to be it. Question - any idea what size diode I need? I saw this but wasn't sure if there was a better/cheaper/simpler alternative. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000UVR570- fastpakr

How to: Convert V8 AWD to BW 4406 Manual Shift- A how to thread
It's probably still related to the constant power for the gauge lights feeding across the relay onto the switched accessory wire to fire up the radio. I'll try a diode there so it can't flow that direction to see if it resolves everything. Thanks.- fastpakr

How to: Convert V8 AWD to BW 4406 Manual Shift- A how to thread
Just a follow up to this. I'd ignored it for a long time because getting the truck itself running was a bigger priority. It's starting to move up the list now that the truck is on the road. One other thing I've noticed is that the power windows also work as long as the headlights are on. So...- fastpakr

2019 Ford Rangers at SEMA
The ten speed is a variant of the F150 transmission, so it's well proven. You won't see a V8 in the Ranger. Officially there are no plans for any other engine options, but the 2.7 or maybe even the 3.5 might be possible. Honestly, there's no real need. The 2.3 eco already makes more power...- fastpakr

Motor Mount Removal
The differential does not need to be removed. There are several (3?) bolts that hold the axle to the frame. If you remove those bolts, the differential and entire center section of the axle can drop down several inches. At that point, you can access the bolts holding down the motor mounts...- fastpakr

With 37's, 5.13 sounds completely reasonable. That's only about 10% lower than running 33's and 4.10's like I've got now, and I'd gladly add 10% more gearing to that combo.- fastpakr
