Teds Shed Build Thread
We will want to mock it up in the B2 to match the angle of the tcase output with the pinion angle at ride height. You might get lucky doing it the other way, but with the engine swap and axle swap let's just take the time to match it up so you don't have any harmonic vibrations when coasting.- fordpickupman

It's an interesting mindset shift having grown up w the '70s pickups as cool and semi valuable and the '90s pickups as new. Now the '70s pickups are crazy expensive and some of the parts are getting rare. Now the '90s pickups are hot commodities. 🤔- fordpickupman

Poor Man’s RZR build
This thing is my winter weather driver so I can save my '71 from the salt. I finally got tired of trying to hook things to the roof. So I've started the roof rack cage project. The easy part is almost finished. The cross bars should line up with where the verts for the cage should protrude...- fordpickupman

It's an old poor man's HotRod trick. The piston pins are offset in the pistons. So if you swap sides and rotate them it increases the stroke and compression.- fordpickupman

I freshened the 5.0 before I stuck it in the hole. New bearing, moly rings, and flipped the pistons/rods and a mustang gt cam. It runs quite a bit better than my bride's '01 5.0 sploder.- fordpickupman

Poor Man’s RZR build
I tried really hard to use the cast Explorer oil pan. Everyone was correct, it won't fit. I moved the engine back as far as I could and wanted it low. The humps and bumps in the pan will not clear the TTB crossmember and pivot mount. I trimmed the pivot and eventually cut it off and the pan...- fordpickupman

Poor Man’s RZR build
Well, almost a year ago, the heads lifted on the 4.0. Poor thing had been slowly burning water for the entire time I have owned it. So, to fix it properly, I swapped in a 5.0 4r70 out of a rolled early Mountaineer I had picked up just for this purpose and had stashed for a couple years. Mucho...- fordpickupman

You got the goody out of those pads. I tend to harvest rotors/pads from the junk yard. I just watch for stuff in good shape. I scored a all but new set of rotors this last fall. Somebody had already poached the calipers, the emergency brake was on so the rotors were "stuck". I love that...- fordpickupman

My old 4.0 would sputter and try to die when I was working it at low speed (rock crawling or snow wheeling) I figured it was getting hot and going into limp mode. I swapped a 5.0 into it to fix it. Now more sputtering.- fordpickupman

The ecoboost 3.7 has been swapped into a ranger. There's a YouTube on it. I can't remember the name of the shop. It's a big high end shop. I bet the guy had $50k+ in the swap. It was super nice.- fordpickupman

I've ridden in it. It is a legit good time. Ford should have built them with the 5.0 and the 5spd. If I didn't just get my 5.0 1st gen on the road I'd have to have one. Jamie is great guy and does good work. Wish I didn't live 8 hrs away.- fordpickupman
