    Is this a normal practice?

    I took my truck ('03 ford explorer xls) to a mechanic thinking the problem was that it needed a rear main oil seal, between the engine and transmission (friend, who is not a mechanic but knows a little about it, got under my truck and looked). The mechanic said that it needed a new front timing...

    Alternator or starter???

    Went to start truck yesterday (03 Ford Explorer XLS 4x4) and it just clicked and clicked. Charged the battery so I know it's not that. How do I know if it's the alternator or the starter? Is there a way to tell? Thanks in advance for your help.
