Does the EB specifically have something different about the transmission, something that makes it more robust, or did you just mean the differences between the V6 & V8 transmissions... which I'm assuming are different being stuck to a different engine anyway?

I've been looking at buying an Explorer for a while now, but have come across quite a few locally that have no reverse gear. Some of them are selling for next to nothing and being listed as needing a new transmission or a rebuild. Is this really common of this generation Explorer?
