Question for DiagteK User's scan Tool

Frigzzi, The best source of information I can recommend is the Ford service manual. I don't know of any other sources for descriptions of PIDs. The service manual will discuss some PIDs, but probably not all of them. A few PIDs in AutoDiag (not "PWM Duty Cycle #1") will show an INFO...

Question for DiagteK User's scan Tool

Frigzzi, I believe the PID you are looking for is called "PWM Duty Cycle #1". This PID is for the 4WD clutch and it will give a "% duty cycle" value. This is a GEM PID and it can be found in Version 2.3 of AutoDiag. If this does not answer your question, contact the support team at...

    A couple of Misc. questions...

The five sets of five dings sounds like it could be the airbag system. Does the airbag light come on when you first turn the ignition on? If not, the bulb is out. If the bulb is out and there is another problem with the airbag system, you get dinging.

    How to dissable Factory Alarm?

The factory alarm will store information on what set it off. It records the last 4 or 8 alarms so you can see if it was a door, hood, panic button, etc. I know that this doesn't help you disable the alarm, but if you can get this info out of the RAP or GEM module you can fix the problem.

How do I find the Plug-in for my CODE Reader on my 98??

There is a small plastic cover over the diagnostic port. The cover has a cutout for your finger to pull it off. It is below the steering wheel.

Why is my explored backfireing ?

Just because your Check Engine Light isn't on, doesn't mean that there are no stored codes. The PCM will still store codes. What might help is something called 'pending codes'. Get a scanner, or have it scanned, to help figure this out.

    Codes

There are also something called "pending codes". These are codes stored in the engine controller which were not serious enough to turn on the check engine light. Only the engine controller has pending codes. The ABS, airbag, suspension controller and other modules do not.

    Dashboard computer connector

The OBD2 connector is not always covered. On a '98 Explorer it is behind a small access panel. Some cars have a plastic cap over the connector. On many newer Fords ('01 Taurus, latest Explorer) it is completely uncovered.
