Yng_pnk I posted this message twice; most of the replies were received on the other thread. Here is the link to that thread. Dead Link Removed I am the original owner and the old plastic/rubber plugs are still there and intact. I have changed all of my fluids over to synthetic...

How many miles can a clutch last?

I just turned 169,000 on my 92 xlt 4.0L 4 door -- original clutch. My clutch seems to be working fine -- the same as always -- but I know that it is probably just a matter of time before I will need to change it. I will wait for more indication that the thing is definitely on its last legs...

Those 3 little tranny plugs that eventually leak!

My shifter is pretty loose, but doesn't seem to be a real problem, I will probably fix that too while I have the thing apart -- I don't plan on removing everything nice and neat, just going to cut the carpet and use carpet tape afterwards to mend (as suggested somewhere on one of the links I...

Those 3 little tranny plugs that eventually leak!

I currently have 169,000 miles on my '92 Explorer 4 Door 4.0L Manual. I have learned greatly from this site and would like to thank all posters for providing me with the knowledge and confidence to work on my Explorer -- I can no longer afford the dealer's labor and parts charges -- and too...
