After further research, it looks like the OEM seal does install this way, but it requires a special tool to get the depth correct. I think this is where they went wrong. They probably don't have the tool. The one they installed was totally gouged by the wear sleeve. :(- Xfiremech

Thanks, the wear sleave looks like I would expect, and the installer it comes with makes it obvious how it goes on. I am not sure how these guys got this one on backwards.:mad:- Xfiremech

I was able to convince them to pull it apart in their shop. They are going to put the seal in tomorrow. My concern is that they will do it wrong again, and I will be no better off. :(- Xfiremech

Hi, I am new to the forum. I had my Transmission rebuilt recently and the guy convinced me to have him change the rear main engine seal while he was in there. That is where my trouble began.
