    Getting very HOT going uphill

That's another good idea. The radiator is fairly new and it looks really clean. Its just interesting that it only gets hot when pulling a hill at low speeds. The EX runs good in all other aspects. I need a reliable hunting vehicle here! :)

    Getting very HOT going uphill

Thanks for the ideas so far. You are right. The clutch fan is about the only thing left! I welcome any more ideas.

    Fuel Gauge 1993 Explorer

Here is the best advice I've seen on this issue from a Ford Certified Technician on this forum. (Sorry, I don't remember who it was to give credit to him) Disconnect the connector at the fuel pump, it will be at the rear of the tank driver side of course. On the harness side take a jumper wire...

    Getting very HOT going uphill

My 93 Ex runs cool except when going fairly slow uphill. When going hunting this weekend in fairly cool temperatures, my explorer was almost running hot when going up the dirt roads of the mtn. It never actually boiled over but got very HOT. Other normal driving and the temp does fine...

    runs like crap...

Mine has been giving me the same problems although I haven't had the chance to change as many parts as you bc I don't have a donor vehicle like you do. :) Mine completely cleared up 2 days ago after simply checking the codes a couple times by using the CEL test. Message me if you'd like...

    Buying a code reader

Not sure about OBD2, but my OBD1 was almost TOO simple to read using the CEL method and no code reader. The CEL method worked great. I would recommend the CEL method if someone can chime in on the OBD2's.

    bad miss/bogging problem

1993 Eddie Bauer 4.0 4 door I've been searching for a REALLY bad miss/bogging problem for a couple weeks. I replaced plugs, plug wires, vacuum lines, fuel filter and even put a ground strap on the firewall that the previous motor swapper didn't do. Problem still persisted. I finally...

    Code Scanner won't connect

Thanks for this suggestion. I searched and found a very detailed guide to get the codes via CEL. I'll give this a try this afternoon.

    Code Scanner won't connect

1993 Eddie Bauer 4x4 4 door Been trying to run down a very serious miss/lossofpower/bog. Couldn't find anyone to scan the codes for me so I got a code scanner from Oreilly's ($250 but returnable). I hook everything up and follow the directions on the screen. Simple. When its time for it to...

    runs like crap...

Hello guy. Any update on your situation? Your situation sounds just like mine, but I don't have a parts truck to play with! I've swapped plugs, wires, and fixed vacuum leaks so far with some improvement, but still a baddd miss and bad performance.

Fixed float in the gas tank, now gauge reads all the way full!!

Thanks for the tips and ideas. I still have the access panel open so I can still get to it very easily. On mine (93 Eddie Bauer) there's one wiring harness that attaches to the top of the sending unit/fuel pump, and this harness runs along the frame to a big plug. This is where I...

Fixed float in the gas tank, now gauge reads all the way full!!

Hello all, My gas gauge was reading empty no matter what. I pulled the unit out and I had the good ol' sunken rotten float problem. I replaced the float for $10 and I thought my gas gauge problems were over! NOW, when I crank the explorer, the gas gauge goes to all the way FULL! I can't...

Transmission switching constantly from OD to D at interstate speed

Funny thing you mentioned heater core b/c mine was clogged and I blew it out with the water hose the day b/f this transmission thing happened. I filled the radiator with only water (b/c I didn't wanna waste the antifreeze b/f I could tell if my heater core issues were fixed.) On the...

Transmission switching constantly from OD to D at interstate speed

I'm a fairly capable shade tree mech (motor swaps, T5 rebuilds, clutch installs), how do I determine the above mentioned possibilities? thanks, Josh

Transmission switching constantly from OD to D at interstate speed

Hello, 93 Eddie Bauer Explorer 4x4 Automatic trans 4.0 v6 4 door Here's my issue I'm needing some direction on. I got on the interstate for the 1st time yesterday and at cruising speed (65mph) the tranny would go from D to OD, D to OD, D to OD, until I either sped on up or slowed...
