    I'm out

'99 XLT V-8, had it since new. 219,128 miles. It served me very well. The winters it spent in Western NY were hard on it. Showing lots of rust, needed brakes, needed tires, slow coolant leak, fuel pump was going south in a hurry. I cried uncle today.

Rear wheels VERY hard to turn, driveshaft won't turn by hand.

Are you sure it's in neutral? Some Fords with a lot of age have transmission indicators that have slipped.

    Towing a boat

Is 2700 the boat weight, or the whole package? Add trailer, motor, battery, gas, all your stuff and you might be pushing 4500 lbs. You need to make sure your tongue weight isn't too light (the trailer will sway) You need to make sure the trailer bearings are in good shape.

There's a rubber grommet on the bottom of the bell housing. Pull it, then bump the starter to get the torque converter rotated around so you can see its drain plug. Undo that plug, and you can get the rest of the fluid out and do a complete change. I think the total is 12 quarts when...
