I would part it out (if you have the space) or sell it to a junk yard. The transmission will fail next and that is a 4000.00 job. I replaced my transmission, then the engine failed. I am in the process of re-building the engine, only due to the fact that the transmission only has 8,000 miles...
I had an issue where I was stalling and when I took it in to have the codes checked it was my left front bearing. The Speed sensor was the problem and I changed out the bearing assembly. This all happened in one day. I stalled at 45 mph, 65 and 20.
I have a remanufactured transmission and now have my engine out. Rebuilding both front and rear timing chains. The rear was stretched and the front was holding on my one link. I should get 10 more out of it.
Possibly a broken vacuum hose under the hood. It is a small hose right at the passenger side firewall inside the engine compartment. There is a soft rubber boot through the firewall that has hard plastic lines running into it. One line goes across to the drivers side of the engine compartment...
4600.00 at the dealership for a factory rebuilt tranny. I still have 9000.00 on my loan. I feel like such a heel. Maybe Toyota or VW will give me something for it. If I am gonna buy a vehicle with cheap parts, I may as well buy a cheap vehicle. Too bad the Government bailed out the Big 3...
I recently read somewhere where a Vacum line has a hole in it and that fixed the problem. (Passenger side hose into valve cover). Another one said that the timing chain had wore a hole through the Valve cover. (only said it was in the back of valve cover). I haven't had a chance to look yet...
My sister has a Malibu with electronic steering. Hers goes out often and when it does it takes all my stength to turn. I shut the motor off and restart. Everything is fine until the next time it goes out.
I will be driving along and Suddenly my engine stalls. No bumping or flickering, just shuts down. While I am Still rolling I place it in neutral and it starts right up again...?? Any suggestions?
