Just use common sense. Wet grass is fine just make sure that the ground is hard. As for mud I wouldnt trust it depending how thick it is.

Is there anything special you should clean it with?

mystery oil I bought this mystery oil stuff when the fuel injector cleaners werent helping, trucks been fine ever since, but its called mystery oil, put some in your oil and gas. I know alot of people hate additives but it worked for me when i had the same problem.

I am having issues with my rear window as well but I havent had the courage to tear it up, Its very selective when it wants to work. Some days it works some days it wont, tried the initialization process but it was on the day it decided it wasnt going to work.
