Well when I used it I remember reading in the instructions not to use the kit on any lenses that were not very yellow or really cloudy, so maybe your UV layer just was not worn in enough, I have read about this happening before on newer headlights that weren't damaged enough.

you shouldn't need to take the whole console out, just remove the message center, its the little box hidden on the right side.

It could be that your blower motor resistor has died, pretty common failure among just about any car out there, do you have the automatic climate controls or the manual knobs?
