I know exactly the noise you are talkong about. Sounds like a power steering pump. My noise ended up beong the tensioner bearing. Replaced it noise is gone.

Old topic, but wanted to add that the 4407 has no provision for a speed sensor period. I rushed out and purchased a 4407 thinking it was the same, it is not. I dont think it will even fit because it is a larger transfer case then the 4406.
I have a 96 Explorer AWD 5.0. Im in the process of doing a manual 4407 conversion and am also converting the front torsion bar suspension to Coil overs. Rear will be an axle flip, leafs over axle and a 3" body lift as well for clearance for maintenance and for the 35's I plan on running. The...
