What the BEEP is Going On?

Though the vehicle is an Eaddie Bauer and fullt loaded, there is no RSC nor is there a button to turn it off/on. And if it only sounded during extreme turns or braking or accelerations, I could understand it. But it goes off just barely pushing the accelerator more than a normal take off or if...

What the BEEP is Going On?

I now have a 2004 Explorer Eddie Bauer (Yes the "ole 98 finally bit the dust after 366,000 miles) anyway and well, my recent upgrade is acting a bit strange. It seems that if I take off a little faster than normal or if I hit the brakes a little harder than normal or if I turn a corner a little...

    Vacuum Issues

I have a 1998 Explorer with a recently rebuilt motor 4.0 SOHC V6 (intake manifold was not replaced) 2 wheel drive that about 75% of the time sucks air so hard from the line (small 3/8" or 1/2" id hose) that goes from the air filter housing hose (large 3" id duct style hose that's preformed) to...

My Rear End is Being a ..."Rear-End"...

Is it difficult to replace the entire axle and differential? What does it entail? Special tools? I was quoted $600 for a used one from a junkyard.. I can't see where to attach pics...ugh. Maybe I'm too new..?

My Rear End is Being a ..."Rear-End"...

It doesn't appear that the pinion gear or even the cluster is badly damaged. I also showed the pics to a friend that is more of a mechanic than myself and he was surprised how well the gears looked. He was of the thinking that maybe a bearing went to pieces and threw an axle shaft out of...

My Rear End is Being a ..."Rear-End"...

Hello All- My 1998 Explorer XLT, 4-Door, 4.0 SOHC, auto trans, 2 wheel drive, Rear Axle Code 42 and from researching it, is a "C"onventional not a "non-slip" 4:10:1 ratio Rear End - with a mere 312,000 miles on it has decided to take a rest during a very busy schedule that I am in the middle...

Replaxed Water Pump, Thermostat, Housing, Radiator cap and..

..it's using water from the overflow tank to the rate of one overflow tank per day (20-25 miles of driving in mixed in town and highway driving and it's not leaking water/coolant anywhere that I or two other fairly car savvy friends can see. It smells hot but the gauge just goes up about 1/3 or...

    How to: Replace a thermostat on a 2000 4.0L SOHC V6

My dilemma is that the thermostat housing keeps pushing the rubber o-ring gasket out of place and outside the sealing area (which I'm assuming you push it over the lip on the underside of the housing out towards the holes?) it keeps pushing out out of the sealing area when I try to tighten it...
