Radio install on '03 Sport XLS - I'm lost..

FYI: doesn't look like your link that says "Here's how it came out.." is working. I'm kinda interested actually, lol...

    Coolant in the Exhaust

J_C my truck is at about 194,000 miles, frankly I'm a little surprised I haven't seen a head gasket leak sooner. A couple months ago I overheated about 60 miles from home, I think then is when my head gasket problem initially started. That ordeal cost me about $250 for a new radiator.

    Coolant in the Exhaust

Thanks again 2000StreetRod koda2000, doing the repairs myself isn't an issue, I do have a couple interested buyers... IF I repair the head gasket, they'll pay me my asking price. I guess I can't complain too much, the truck has been fun to work on, even though I've replaced almost everything...

    Coolant in the Exhaust

Thanks 2000StreetRod Wouldn't I need to remove the cassette to remove the head, no matter which side?? Doesn't the cam chain go through the head?

    Coolant in the Exhaust

Yes I do have the SOHC, I've seen a couple posts where the person removed the engine to do the head gaskets. Honestly it'd probably make the job a whole lot easier, but pulling an engine is no easy task either..

    Coolant in the Exhaust

What about other PM issues to do while the head is off? Should I only worry about the blown gasket and leave the "good" head alone? If it's the Passenger side how much of a pain is it going to be? I'm sure that'll require pulling the motor since the passenger side timing chain is on the...

    Coolant in the Exhaust

So, as stated in the title, I seem to have coolant coming into the exhaust (I think). I'm not sure if it is going straight into the Exhaust, or into the combustion chamber. The truck does run rough at operating temperature. I can open the overflow tank and see bubbling during vehicle operation...

    OBDII Connection Errors

angstrom08, thanks for the assist. I haven't been messing with the Explorer much here lately, been driving the Motorcycle and what not... Sometimes you can go so aggravated with something you need time away from it. Having done that, I've now discovered another horrible problem with the...

    OBDII Connection Errors

Yes I have verified fuses are good, at least, in the cab, didn't check the fuses by the battery now that I think of it...

    OBDII Connection Errors

Yes Sonic, it's literally just barely a month old if that, bought directly from ScanTool.net

    OBDII Connection Errors

Yes I have a Fieldpiece. He states that he has read on forums that bad voltage at the OBDII causes issues with scaning equipment because they do not receive the proper power, that's about all I got out of him... While running ScanXL I'll constantly get a message that the connection was lost...

    OBDII Connection Errors

Okay friends, I'll try to make this as short and sweet as I possibly can. 1998 Explorer XLT 4.0 SOHC Auto 4x2 I bought a ScanTool OBDII to USB adapter to go along with my ScanXL Pro application on my laptop. I had been using a Bluetooth adapter on the laptop with an OBDII to Bluetooth...

    1997 Explorer with Dealer-Installed Alarm

You could try it, the worst that could happen is that the truck won't start, it's possible it could disable the PATS System, which is what your keyless entry fob communicates to. If it does, just plug it back in, I've unplugged mine before with no issues, other than it not starting, but I didn't...

    Ford Vehicle Security System

Don't feel shy to use the tools on this thread at your disposal, I really wish I could help, but until I take on the daunting task of attempting to swap out my Key Fobs for just being worn out, or adding a button for a feature, I'm not touching this alarm system until I have both vehicles on the...

Brake Lights barely visible - without engaging brake pedal?

Yeah, second day in a row I have forgotten my meter at the office, I'll test it quick when I get to work and see what comes up. It really is weird to me to have something like this happen, usually when I have a leak in power it's something you can't see, not something everyone sees lol. Thanks...

Brake Lights barely visible - without engaging brake pedal?

To test this theory, I swapped the two LED's from the rear and two filament bulbs from the front left, the faint strobing effect stopped. Now, here's my problem with this; this further proves something is wrong. If an electrical circuit is Open, that means the (+) and the (-) are not...

Brake Lights barely visible - without engaging brake pedal?

Dusk Video Video at dusk showing flicker of the lights. Made the video a while ago, forgot to add it here.

Brake Lights barely visible - without engaging brake pedal?

I agree completely on this! But I believe in this situation I have a +12v issue, based on what I found today in the above post.

Brake Lights barely visible - without engaging brake pedal?

Update Hope everyone is having a good evening, I'm digging my old thread out because I'm FINALLY able to start working on my truck some more. Today, I spent 3-4 hours pulling every single blade fuse out if my Explorer manual said it was related to anything about brakes. Each blade fuse, both...

Brake Lights barely visible - without engaging brake pedal?

Update! Hey Guys, Just wanted to update... I am as confused as ever. As seen in the Original Video my brake lights appear to be coming on and "strobing", although very dim. Now, I had stopped at a point where I thought this issue may have been figured out, but I am mistaken. I figured it...

Brake Lights barely visible - without engaging brake pedal?

Brake Lights, as in they do not light up without the pedal depressed. I'm certain it's the brake lights because of the third brake light being on and flickering with the Driver's and Passenger's Brake light. Well, in comparison to my turn signal LED's, the blade of the LED that snaps into...

Brake Lights barely visible - without engaging brake pedal?

Please check out my video I just posted. I just noticed it tonight and the LED's have been in the truck since Saturday. Although the Duralast Gold 850CCA battery has been out sitting on the trickle charger as I was working on other items like this and that. So that could explain why I never...

    Ford Vehicle Security System

Success! DjDom, that's where I found the Ford Vehicle Security System Module. Basically, what I did, since the battery was already unhooked I re-installed the module, clamped the cable on the battery now this has caused the siren to chirp (almost like a cop or ambulance would to get your...
