I'm very happy with the Explorer, as I stated in my OP. It's just a few little things that I'm not happy with. I don't know anyone whos 100% happy with their car. You can be happy about something overall while being dissatisfied with a small part of it :)

Thanks for the pics! My Service manager told me that they could probably fix it but warned me that they'd have to open up the dashboard and said that there's a realistic chance that something might get messed up from that. It's an eyesore for me but I've learned to ignore it. I'd rather not...

Thanks Peter, I STRONGLY considered the Highlander and 4-Runner before getting the Ford and have not regretted it except for the little things I just mentioned.

Does anyone else hear a grinding noise from their power liftgate when it's opening? I'm pretty sure it's the hydraulic system. Just didn't think it'd be so noisy.

I've got the high pitch thing going when the car is running. I just took it in to the shop today after only 400 miles :( hopefully they will have an answer for me.

It seems that we brothers in arms about this problem. My passenger side is also 1/2 inch off. Is there anything that can be done about this? I hadn't noticed the tailgate alignment issue yet but I do remember thinking that the gap between the tailgate and the car when closed was rather wide.
