1998 Explorer V8 (loss of power)

Still an intermittent problem..more of a PITA than anything. Whenever I take the truck to 3-3500 rpm for more than a few seconds it hits...no loss of power just a CEL. Same code, messing with the wire connecter and wires themselves will cause the truck to stumble...think there might actually be...

can Tire Size Mismatch cause front differentiial failure on a AWD 2004 MOUNTAINEER

I can see a difference in the tread depth from the front compaired to the back with the tires I have on there now. Would I be able to feel the awd trying to kick in or would it just be producing friction and taking away life from the center coupler? These are the same brand, model and size...

can Tire Size Mismatch cause front differentiial failure on a AWD 2004 MOUNTAINEER

Not to beat a dead horse on this one...but 1/2" inch is a lot of difference isn't it? I have an '01 AWD and the tires are all the same brand just needed a rotation from front to back...this scares me! would it be very noticeable when the awd kicks in due to this? Off to find the TSB now...

    3.0 vs 4.0 Ranger

I am looking to buy a Ranger as my kids first car (truck). I have just bought my first Ford (mounty) and love the truck. The one I found is a 3.0 1994 109K. Most people I am talking to say to get the 4.0. No need for HP here. I have read that as long as you keep up with the cooling system and...

1998 Explorer V8 (loss of power)

got it ...it was the connector from the PCM to the coil pack on the passenger side...it started, running like it was going on just a few cyl.s I hate to do this (can be a really shocking experience) but while it was kinda running i went and started pushing each wire to see if there was a change...

1998 Explorer V8 (loss of power)

oh boy ...I went and pushed down ..gave a little twist to the spark plug wires where connected to the coil...started the mounty and it stuttered like it was running on one or two cyl. only. I shut her off to restart hoping it would clear up...now no start. I just pulled all and cleaned ...still...

1998 Explorer V8 (loss of power)

Yeah we are thinking along the same lines...gas fouled a plug and destroyed the fuel filter...I also think a good seafoam will help. It is good to drive hard every once in a while to blast out all the carbon; this probably never happened. The truck being worth it...HELL YES...this mounty is...

1998 Explorer V8 (loss of power)

any luck with these codes..(OLD POST RESERECTION!) I have gone here : http://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/ http://www.obd-codes.com/p0353 I have the p0353 code on an almost new '01 5.0 model. I believe it to be plugs or a loose/bad connection to the #3 coil from the PCM to the coil...

    NEW 2001 Mercury Mountaineer

quick question. It looks like the newer tires have been put in the rear and ones with more wear on the front. They are a matched set of michelins. The truck is AWD and I have read the warnings! I am assuming the rears will wear quicker due to them getting more drive power during normal operating...

    NEW 2001 Mercury Mountaineer

Bought a HOLY GRAIL 2001 Mercury Mountaineer 5.0 AWD, the spruce green and tan leather Friday. Will be here lots for advice. I went to the dealership and there was a little old couple(65+) trading in a suv on a new VW Passat. I thought to myself...well not my kind of car but what the hell. Turns...
