Got it It was CK sensor wires. During assembly, I had a hard time getting timing cover into position (getting top of T cover under head) and I must have pinched loom enough to short all three wires together. Instead of checking to ground I should have checked between wires. It wasn't pinched...

i'm working on a 04 explorer with v6 sohc. there is a bad noise like loose timing chain or guides. I know it has 4 chains with 4 tenisioners and takes some special tools. I pulled the front cover off and don't see anything thats loose or broken that could be making the noise from the lower left...
