    Shock - When to Replace

FREE to good home: All 4 strut assemblies from my 2010 Limited with power-fold 3rd row. I mention that because they use a different spring on the 3rd row equipped vehicles. Vehicle was not being driven regularly and I noticed there was a stain on the driveway under the left rear so it appears...

Mud Flaps for power diploying running boards

You can put anything you want on the back wheels, but the fronts are factory installed from Ford. If you look you can see they are connected with 3 push pins to the inside fender liner and hang down maybe 2 inches. Check both sides to make sure you don't have one or both missing. While I...

    Choosing a remote start

Anytime you're dealing with blue box, expect to have your pants down around your ankles! If you really don't want/can't do this yourself, find a local small guy to do it. You'll be happier for the experience and they will appreciate your business. Excepting the guy you talked to about the...

Cooled seats: how to tell if a Limited has them?

I am 100% certain, otherwise I wouldn't post it. I searched hundreds of them and every one met the standards I posted. Also, this is directly from the 2014 Explorer brochure: +Luxury Seating Package includes PowerFold® 3rd-row seat, perforated leather-trimmed seats, heated and cooled driver...

    Platinum Sync 3

I have 3 Ex's all with syncs. Does anyone know where they are? How does the faucet work? Does it make it's own water or do you have to fill a tank somewhere. Seems this would be great for camping. With the 110V outlet, I could carry a coffee maker and have fresh joe whenever I want...

    snow plow

Again FWIW, I have seen a few previous generation Ex's with a plow on the back. I never looked closely, but I'm guessing they attach to the trailer hitch and use the trailer lighting connector for power. The ones I saw the operator could lift n lower the blade from the driver's seat. At least...

Cooled seats: how to tell if a Limited has them?

Only with the luxury seating package. Easiest way to know is to look at the 3rd row seat-backs. Power folding 3rd row means cooled seats. No power ford=no cooled seats. In pictures if you can see the power buttons on the left inside the back hatch or look at the strap on the seat-backs. If...

    snow plow

For what it's worth I saw a 2011 FWD Ex on a dealership lot and it had a plow mount on the front. The lower bumper and grill were 'modified' to accommodate it, but it looked to be professionally done. At the time I asked myself how much snow could an FWD actually move.

    Platinum Sync 3

Well you see it's really quite simple. The Escape and the Platinum share the letters E; P & A so therefore they are similar vehicles. Similar vehicles that share 3 or more letters are essentially the same. It is from this hypothesis that we form the theory. As the theory may be confirmed at...

    2014 explorer

It clearly states in the Owner's Manual that the rear wiper blade can only be replaced at the dealer by replacing the entire vehicle with a new one.

    Question on steering recall

Steering gear is technician/industry speak for the steering rack. Not sure why that was so hard to figure out or even why it's such a burning, gotta know right now issue.

So Angry With Theodore Robins Ford Right Now!!

Christopher Robins Ford, Really! Eyore must be the technician and Tigger the service adviser. Here's a lesson going forward, don't do business with dealerships from the Whinny the Pooh line... Sorry! It's not that I don't take your issue seriously, I just thought that dealership name was...

Ford Explorer 2013 3.5V6 Limited suspension woes

Swaybar...Stabilizer bar same thing just to clarify. You say ant, I say aunt; you say vase, I say "Jaws was never my thing and I don't like Star Wars." Credit to Ray Davies for that last bit of humor...

Ford Explorer 2013 3.5V6 Limited suspension woes

Believe it or not stabilizer links sound like the thing is seriously damaged, so make a point of getting them checked. Because of where they mount the noise transmits through the car way louder than anyone would think. They are fairly easy to self diagnose as they will bang like mad going...

Power running board broke, lots of Qs

The board just has 2 bolts holding it to the hinge. You should be able to pull one from the other hinge or side and match it at Lowes/Depot without much problem. The rod connects the back, motor driven hinge to the front static hinge so they fold/unfold together. It appears to be just a...

2016 Explorer LED Fog Lights option??

For the record, fog lights are yellow on purpose because that color spectrum cuts through the fog instead of being reflected back at the driver. The purpose of lights is to aid in visibility, not make the car look cool, or good, or symmetrical. SERIOUSLY!!!

    How to tighten parking brake?

OP. Not to beat up on you but you definitely angered the brake gods with whatever you did, particularly the retracting of the pistons back into the cylinders. You need to apply & release the ebrake a bunch of times to cycle the piston screw back into adjustment with the pistons.

    P0625- Battery light on dash

The other issue could be one of the diodes is bad. Alt/regulators use a diode trio to smooth and convert the AC voltage generated by the Alternator into DC voltage for the system.

    Removing small dents

If the dent(s) have no creases, go get some good insulated rubber gloves and some dry ice. Put the dry ice in/on the dent and it will pop out. If you can find a Pops-a-dent somewhere they work decent, but more of a pain with the glue, etc.

    Paint Damage

I haven't seen one, nor have I tried making one. In any case, look at it this way: You're preparing to let a body shop charge you for essentially repainting the entire door regardless of whether they actually do that or not. I can't think of a thing you could do following those directions...

    Paint Damage

Actually it is pretty easy. The key, and I can't stress it enough, is be patient, especially with the paint drying process. I promise you the results will amaze you. This is the exact same way a body shop will repair that. Or they'll quote you $400+ to paint the entire door. Then what thy...

    Paint Damage

Get the touch-up paint from any Ford dealer. Ruby Red might be a two step/two bottle kit like the White Platinum Tri-coat, but maybe not. Also get some 1500 grit micro-fine sand paper. If you get 2 bottles in the kit, one is the basic red and will say basecoat, the other is the topcoat...

    Hello everyone.

UH, or maybe DUH! Here's your first criticism: You're disappointment is not with the vehicle, but rather in you're choice(s). Maybe it would be beneficial for you to own up to not actually buying the one with the options you wanted, as opposed to blaming the vehicle for not having those...

    AC blend gate problems

My first guess is because you have a blend gate, not a blend door like the rest of us, the air is not being directed properly as it can blow through the gate... Sorry, I couldn't resist. In all seriousness, it sounds like a possible vacuum connection issue. Most of these default to defrost...

'07 Explorer / Mountaineer Power running boards?

So I think the difference is the articulation of the hinge for the stowed position. The Mounty boards, as you appear to know, are flat, thin and they look wider than the Exp boards. Our boards are shaped kinda like a boat if you view it from the front or back. My thoughts, for what they're...
