After taking a closer look again, I have to agree it's not a variable runner intake.
The valve I'm talking about is not the IAC. It's behind the IAC and closer to the firewall and is vacuum operated. It appears to be a flapper between the 2 "banks" of the intake. Now I'm curious as to what it...
Our 1993 XLT Was totalled by an old lady in a Buick at 175,000 miles. We bought it used at 60k miles, but significant repairs in our ownership:
Transmission:150k
Intake gasket: ~120k
Ac compressor: ~ 130k
Front brakes many times.
We replaced it with a used 1998 with ~60k miles. It just...
Now I know why my 98 Limited has that big funky intake. I believe you're right because there is a vac operated valve right in the center that I didn't underatand what it was for.
Mine also makes so much noise (hissing type sound) that I swear it has a vacuum leak. I have searched and...
What makes the motor stop when it reaches it's limit?
Mine lowers fine. It raises fine, but when it reaches the top of it's travel, the motor continues to grind at it for 20 or 30 seconds.
I removed the mast and the plastic cable appears to be correct and in good shape.
TIA,
Scott
My wife dropped the keys while at the supermarket and the transponder came out. She picked it up, but did not know what it was. She assumed it was already on the floor and threw it away. :o She lost the other key a year ago, so off to the dealer it went. I realized what was going on when the...
I realized today that the 'theft' light was a fast flash when turning on the ignition. An extensive search here and other sites pointed exclusively to "tow it to the dealer". I don't believe it can read the transponder key.
Where do you suggest I start, then? I will verify fuel pressure shortly, but since I got a squirt from the valve, I'd at least expect the engine to sputter if the pressure is low. I'm also going to hook up a noid light.
Thanks,
Scott
98 Limited is a no start. I have verified fuel pump operation when turning on ignition. There is fuel presssure at the rail (pushed shrader valve), but I didn't have a gauge handy. There is spark - I sprayed start fluid and it fired and ran for a few seconds. Without the shot of fluid, it does...
