How to: 2002 Explorer rear wheel bearing replacement (pictures)

It depends on how adept you are with parking brakes, and whether or not you press in/out the bearing yourself. If you don't run into any major issues a maybe 2 hours for hub removal and installation. It can take a bit longer depending on how many issues you have. For the bearing pressing itself...

How to: How to: Replace Sway Bar bushings (frame only)

I just did mine. I squirted them with PB the day before. They were had to turn with a long breaker on them. I couldn't get the impact wrench in (probably good because they may have snapped. but the 4" HF stubby one is too big.) but I ended up backing them out a tiny bit, oiling the threads...

Glad you got it fixed!! :) The ball joints can be a PITA to get off. Even with a pneumatic chisel and ball joint separator attachment, they don't always pop right off like they should. :)

    2004 explorer - weak reverse.

trans kit. It looks like I might need to get this kit: Superior K5R55W/N/S Shift Correction Package http://www.amazon.com/Superior-K5R55W-Shift-Correction-Package/dp/B00DIIA8S0/ It looks like it can help the reverse issue, without pulling the tranny.

How to: 2002 Explorer rear wheel bearing replacement (pictures)

Remove the knuckle which is pretty fast, then you can take it to a shop to have them press out the old hub and bearing and install the new one with the new hub and circlip. Somewhere between 25-50 dollars and you will be good to go. It is a LOT easier that way. :) Pressing out the bearing...

    2004 explorer - weak reverse.

Right, but the transmission fluid looked okay, but lots of gray fines. The transfer case had lots of residue, which I think might be the big rubber washer. So something is shot in it... I haven't ever done anything with transfer cases or transmissions.. I just wondered if that could be causing...

    2004 explorer - weak reverse.

transfer case The transfer case, which I assume is a BW4410, had like flakes of something in the oil, and it was pretty nasty. Could this have caused the issue? Any ideas of what would need to be replaced in the transfer case? They looked like flakes of rust, but I don't think they were...

    2004 explorer - weak reverse.

Can I check those by removing the reverse servo thing from inside the pan? I would say I might have valves sticking, which I might have but there isn't a whole lot of flaring.

How to: 2002 Explorer rear wheel bearing replacement (pictures)

I have done all of mine. The "stuck" one, I used a puller and put an impact wrench on the bolt. I got the impact wrench for doing the front 3 hub bolts since I couldn't get them to budge when I did the front. The video in the previous post rocks. :) I borrowed the puller, and the bearing...

    2004 explorer - weak reverse.

I have a 04 explorer 4x4 v6 5r55s tranny. it was working, then i heard kind of a pop, then it turned weak. The reverse is -extremely- weak now. It will go into reverse, but will flare if you try to go faster, it never goes faster then if you just let it idle backwards. I changed the tranny...
