    Engine Rattling 4.0 OHV

I'll try those things. Thanks for your input...I'm going to bed.

    Engine Rattling 4.0 OHV

Non automotively inclined. Where do I look for those lower intake manifold bolts? I would like to at least try to tighten them a little. Do you think it is worth my time to do the Seafoam treatment also?

    Engine Rattling 4.0 OHV

Thanks for the advice. How would I go about checking this out? Can I fix this myself? I know it's not leaking externally, but possibly is internally because it seems like it "uses" antifreeze. In response to your earlier post, I would have to classify the sound as more of a spark knock. I have...

    Engine Rattling 4.0 OHV

This is a '99 XLS 4.0 OHV. I forgot to mention that I can faintly smell antifreeze after it warms up. I don't know if this is related or not. I recently had the radiator flushed and new antifreeze put it. It doesn't leak anything, so I'm not sure where the smell is coming from. Head gasket also...

    Engine Rattling 4.0 OHV

Only has 63K. I am thinking about the much recommended Seafoam treatment, but it sounds like lifters are going to shoot through the hood so I hope someone has had this problem and knows how to correct it.

    Engine Rattling 4.0 OHV

I have noticed driving on the highway with cruise control set at 75 MPH that if I start up a hill and the transmission shifts down and the RPM's get up around 3500, the engine starts making a terrible rattling noise. Loud like marbles rattling around in the engine. As soon as it shifts back to...

    Gas in Oil

Minw smelled of gas strongly. It was also very thin. I ran 5W30 and I know that's pretty thin, but when the gas was getting in the oil and I pulled out the dipstick, it was as thin as water on there. There are some places that will test your old oil if you send them some. I would look into that...

    Gas in Oil

Got it back today and I must say.... what a huge improvement. Like a new truck. Mechanic found a fuel injector stuck open and replaced it. Ran it for an hour on the scope afterwords with 0 problems. Lucky for me it was only one injector. Completed the tune up with Cooper Discoverer A/T's and...

Still no word from mechanic today.... I'm starting to get worried

    Gas in Oil

I'm not sure how he knew how much gas was in the oil. I'm assuming it had seperated and he could tell when he drained it. My mileage sucks for a 4.0 at about 15-16 MPG. Does anyone think that this problem could be related to something else?

    Gas in Oil

Took my X to the mechanic yesterday to track down the dreaded pinging noise. He informed me that there was only about 2 1/2 quarts of oil in the pan and the rest was gas. I changed the oil myself a week ago with 5 quarts. He believes that there is a fuel injector problem causing the cylinder...
