yep, i installed it on my 05. very easy to install. the sound is awesome, and the throttle response is a little better. i coupled it with a JBA exhaust and the combination of the two is amazing. good power gain from them. i say go for it. its worth the $150 shipped price tag.

just change it to the KKM. tell your dad that it doesnt cause any harm and that it is easily removable for service. adding a cone filter to the inside of the box isnt going to do much at all. there is such a restriction in air flow caused by the box that it wont make much of a performance or...

just buy a KKM intake. it adds the cone filter but eliminates the box. you can just buy a heatsheild, as i said earlier, to keep any heat away.

yea, i guess its a waste. but the performance and sound gains are nice when coupled with an exhaust. stock for piping wont last more than 3 years on the explorers. so its more than worth it to replace it all with SS piping. if you replace just the muffler chances are that its going to rust out...

i ended up going with a stainless steel JBA exhaust which uses a magnaflow muffler. it sounds great and looks awesome. the reason i went JBA instead of the actual magnaflow kit is because the appearance of the exhaust tip was more appealing to me.

im not sure of the name of the system. i know that it is offered through ford dealers though. so maybe give one of them a call if its not listed on the web.

i would do a yahoo or google search for "02 explorer t-rex" and shop around for the best price. there are two different t-rex grilles available. one has the lower molding and the other, i believe, doesnt. make sure you get the correct one.
