I picked up a 4.6 from a 07 crown Vic to swap in my 04. This apparently is part of a check valve of some sort. Was in the drain pan when I drained the oil.

04 was the switch to 4 wheel abs 4 sensor. I pulled the donor today and put an old whiny 02 in its place so I could still move it. Mounted fine. I will use my old rear cover(if it fits) because the drain and fill plugs are different

Great news. My 04 has 4wheel abs so no rear diff tone ring or sensor to worry about. So it should go in with just 3 bolts. Thanks Chris.

I have what seems like the classic rear end whine. 3.73 open diff. Worse 55-65 loaded stops when you let off the gas. I found by accident it goes away in 4wd so I thought maybe transfer case. I put another t case in but same result. What gives?
