Has anyone managed to actually fix the heated seats?

The heat on my '13 driver's seat is horrible. Some days it actually seems to get hot, but usually I can't really tell the difference. I haven't sat in the passenger seat but everyone who does tells me the seat heaters works fine.

    Oil Change interval

Oil color isn't a good indication of whether it's still good or not. It's supposed to turn black as the detergents bind to contaminants. If you're wondering about the best interval to use, send a sample to Blacktone labs.

    Snow mode rear end "sway"

Wow. You're not the first to have this happen. Just had mine done, gonna take a look at the nuts.

    Aluminum wheel corrosion - Spidering

I have the same issue with spider web discoloration on my '13 Limited wheels. I figured it was just something the previous owner did to scuff them up, but I couldn't imagine what would have done that. Makes sense now. I am planning on plastidipping them anyway.

2014 Explorer A/C blows warm and weak on passenger side, strong and cold on drivers

Is there something you need to do in order to calibrate it? In some cars a dead battery can put the blend door out of sync. Just happened in my Odyssey, driver's side was blowing full hot all the time. All it took was to lower the temp in each zone down to the coldest setting, then back up and...

Heated Seats Fan Stops No Heat, Cool Works

Mine is same, fan starts/stops when turning the heat on. Then I hear the fan intermittently. Seat really doesn't get very hot, sometimes it's better than other days. Probably the worst heated seat in any car I've had.

Hello :) Ticking / Clicking noise heard when rotating steering wheel

I had a similar noise but the problem was the strut mounts, which is a very common issue. If you're sure the noise is coming from inside the car then that's probably not it. To check the strut mounts just have someone listen to each strut as your rotate the steering wheel. It will click/sproing...

List of Useful Threads 3.5L Water pump replacement - Gotchya's

Thanks. Cool, yeah I was working on a J32A2. So do you feel trying to do it in place is easier than removing the engine? After struggling with getting at parts before doing it the "shortcut" way I've started taking the time to just take things apart enough to make the job easier. But pulling the...

List of Useful Threads 3.5L Water pump replacement - Gotchya's

I'm thinking of doing this soon just to avoid potential failure. Explorer has 106K on it right now. I've done timing belt/water pump on say an Acura TL before. *Very* tight engine bay. These pictures make it look like there is a lot more room in the Explorer, but I keep hearing people talking...

    ‘Ting’ noise while driving

Wow very odd. It seemed to increase as the wheels were turned, is that right?

    Standard vs Sport Brakes

If I put in my VIN and go to brakes it says standard duty on each site, so they got it right.

    Standard vs Sport Brakes

The VIN decoder page on ford-trucks.com shows my vehicle as having "HD front/rear brake calipers" yet it does not, it has standard brakes.

    Winter Tire and Wheel Recommendations

Just got my Explorer I bought this summer set up for winter. Went with 18" black wheels with Blizzak 255/60s. I really like the look of the black wheels and IMO 18" wheels makes it look more rugged than the 20s. We only get occasional snow nearish Seattle but we live up a steep road and I've...

New (to me) 16 XLT 2.3L Observations / Questions

I didn't notice too much when test driving the car, but my '13 Limited with the V6 is very loud on acceleration. Makes it sound like the car is really struggling to move. My old '02 Acura TL is very quiet, just a touch of cam whine and engine growl right up to redline. Even my wife's '06 Odyssey...

    double honk disable/enable with FORscan

Yeah, that would be annoying! My 2013 just says "No keyfob detected" on the dash, I guess I don't get that "feature". I get out of the car every day to get the mail on the way home.

    Heated seats module

When I use cooling, the fan runs continuously. When heating, it runs intermittently. Is that normal? The heating doesn't seem to work all that well.

    PTU service question

You guys are getting your PTUs replaced just for leaks? Is there no way to replace the seals? My PTU appears to be leaking from the output to the propshaft. I'm not sure how fast it's leaking, but when I replaced the fluid after I bought it (@ 100K) it didn't appear to be very low.

What tire/wheel size are you running for winter tires?

Well shoot I searched and didn't find that, thank you I'll check it out! I really like the Interceptor wheels, got any pics?

What tire/wheel size are you running for winter tires?

Planning on getting dedicated winter tires due to occasional snow conditions here in the PNW, plus I live up a steep hill and then a long steep driveway. Over the past few years I've either gotten stuck at home or was unable to get home in my previous FWD car (w/o snow tires). That's why I got...

Huge clunk when using hill descent control

Yeah I don't know if it could be the brakes... I didn't feel any difference in the vehicle speed just a very loud clunk. Did not sound good at all! The descent control just modulates the brakes right? I'm not sure what else could be activated to cause the clunk.

    PTU service question

I would! Seems like most people are shooting for every 30k miles. I bought my Explorer used with 100k miles and I'm sure this had never been done, the oil is quite black. I've changed it three times and it still comes out very black.

    PTU service question

Ford is FOS, the oil gets cooked and then the PTU goes out. Way better to keep fresh gear oil in there. They aren't the first to pull something like this. BMW was selling their transmissions as "lifetime fill" but people figured out if you want it to last past 100k you need to change the fluid...
