98 5R55e Missing OD 1,2,4, D1,2 and R. Can drive Man1->Man2->D3->D4->OD5
Any idea what would cause the sprag to break just some 6k miles or so after the last one? Anything that could cause the failure that maybe I missed last time? Ive been driving it around still and most the time its dead locked in the gears it has, but if you run it for too long it overheats...- Justin_

98 4.0 SOHC running rich on bank 2, PCM adding MORE fuel
Well at this point, unless anybody else has something to add I think its just time to look at replacing the PCM Which means PATS and locks and the like unless I get a tuner and start playing with that. Which I might. Think it might be fun to reverse some code and play with the routines. Add...- Justin_

98 4.0 SOHC running rich on bank 2, PCM adding MORE fuel
I also stuck the scope on the 12MHz crystal on the inside and found the EEC V clock rate was varying from 11.8MHz to 12.1MHz at the same time the engine was ramping up and down. Almost like time was being skewed for the EEC V- Justin_

98 4.0 SOHC running rich on bank 2, PCM adding MORE fuel
So, some interesting data today. The engine was running really rich and I managed to get my hands on an oscilloscope and The computer thought that the passenger fuel bank was being pulsed for 1.1ms, but... The scope says its really being pulsed for like 2.1ms (each square is 10V tall and 0.5ms...- Justin_

98 4.0 SOHC running rich on bank 2, PCM adding MORE fuel
Other interesting graphs: This shows the first ~100 seconds after a warm start. It over fuels bank 2 right from the start. (AC off) This is the next ~100 seconds after turning on the AC. Its almost like it wants bank 2 to be at 0.9+ volts on the O2 for some reason. And one more graph...- Justin_

98 4.0 SOHC running rich on bank 2, PCM adding MORE fuel
Ive been poking at my rich codes for a while now, and this is not the first time ive posted about them, but I think I finally distilled all of my issues down to one photo. This is Fuel PWM and O2's for bank 2 on top and bank 1 on the bottom. The first part is warm engine at idle with AC on...- Justin_

98 5R55e Missing OD 1,2,4, D1,2 and R. Can drive Man1->Man2->D3->D4->OD5
Yeah, thats prolly it I see there are lots of refurb transmissions available. Any suggestions on what ones are good/bad? I dont really have time to do it myself this time unfortunately so I think ill need to just have somewhere. Unfortunately the only transmission shop in town is booked out...- Justin_

98 5R55e Missing OD 1,2,4, D1,2 and R. Can drive Man1->Man2->D3->D4->OD5
Hey all! Im back at it again! A week or so ago I was up climbing 25 degree hills in the forest, trans got hot, and seemed to start to slip a bit. I took a break, let it cool, then just gently worked my way out. It worked fine after that untill... Last night I was running up a large hill at...- Justin_

Never mind! I'm just an absolute idiot! Apparently 5r55e's don't like to run on four and a half quarts of oil. It works perfect! I'm so happy! Thank you everyone!- Justin_

Well I finally got the last of the parts back in and the truck all back together. Filled it with fluid with the new torque converter and new valve body and got absolutely nothing. Didn't feel any engagement whatsoever in any gear- Justin_

Oh, also forgot one thing. The transmission originally had washers on the necks of the bell housing bolts. I ordered some replacements from WITTrans, but they shipped out rubber coated washers. Is there any advantage/disadvantage to using those? Im sure I could go find some O-Rings locally if...- Justin_

Well 3 weeks later here and I finally got some time to work on the transmission yesterday. Got it all back together. Ok so I dug back into the thing. First off the VB did not make everything suddenly work again, thus the radio silence. I guess I was kinda disappointed (even though I expected that) so I forgot to post an update. Good news is it only took about 2-1/2 hours to get it out this time. Im...- Justin_

Soul Eater 5.0L Swap log
I got up to the local self service junkyard today. Got the ABS controller and g-sensor I left on the frame I junked. Ended up paying $100 for them so not that cheap. I dont think so. I think you will be looking for more or less the entire front section. I never really looked in too much detail, so I would pull of the lights and plastic and see what you find. Unless somebody else can offer advice- Justin_

Ah, ok. That looks like the drivers side front body mount, just ahead of the wheel well. It seems like the "cross member" part you are talking about is something on the body of the truck, not the frame. It would be around the part that is circled in this photo. Looking at another photo, you...- Justin_

I did have a Harbor Freight oil pressure gauge, but at some point it totally died. With the line totally open it would read 90PSI. Ya just reminded me that I need to return it before it's too late. DIY Rebuilt 4R70W has no endplay
Cool. Well sounds like we nailed down the problem here. I did replace some hard parts in there so that's probably where that difference came from. Glad I'm not just crazy. I'll order the washer set and be ready for spring. I did check the drum clearance on the 4r70w now that I think back. I...- Justin_

DIY Rebuilt 4R70W has no endplay
Hey, I haven't actually got it figured out yet. Kinda on hold waiting for better weather now. I worked on a 5r55e here recently and it went together fine. On the 5r55e I found that one of the sets of steels were thicker than the original, had to use the old ones (those were still fine). I...- Justin_

Sorry for the delay. Ended up getting my part really late because the dealership didn't get freight for three days. No drive or reverse gears in 4̶R̶5̶5̶E̶ 5R55E. Line pressure all over.
Yeah, that one is probably on me. The transmission tipped off the jack at one point when I was trying to get it in place. It probably hit there, possibly on top of a socket or something. The break being new would explain why I had reverse at first but then it just completely went away...- Justin_

No drive or reverse gears in 4̶R̶5̶5̶E̶ 5R55E. Line pressure all over.
Well I think I found the problem. The intermediate apply piston cover has a crack running most of the way around the circumference and also across the middle of it. It must have been spraying fluid everywhere and probably accounts for that little drip hanging off the bottom of the overdrive...- Justin_

Well moving the vehicle around this morning and trying to drive it back on the ramps I see there is a definite leak from the intermediate servo cover and a bit of a drip from the OD servo cover. I'll chase that down first and get the new pistons that arrived late in while I'm at it.- Justin_

Quick update. Torque converter was seated down as far as it could with reasonable force so I started looking further. I started by pulling the pump off thinking maybe something got misaligned but that didn't seem to be the issue. The issue turned out to be the seal on the oil pump input shaft...- Justin_
