    Help on base stereo upgrade

I did not add a separate amp and just relied on the amp in the deck that I installed. Even though I used cheaper Amazon speakers, I feel that yes, they definitely sound much better. Much crisper, more different channels with the front 6x9s being 4-channel and the back 6.5" being 3 channels. The...

    Help on base stereo upgrade

I do have pics but no time to figure out how to to host/share them. The best I can do is assure you that you can built one that fits in the floor space behind the 2nd row seats that will just barely fit a 12" sub, if you wanted a 12. The sub must be placed right in the middle, slightly angled...

    Help on base stereo upgrade

I will indeed look into the battery. As far as I could tell, the JL stealthboxes were for the hatch area, built into the same area whre the factory subs would go. REgardless, they are ridiculously expensive! So, outta the question for me.

    Help on base stereo upgrade

So, here's an update: I ended up purchasing the Metra Dash kit from Crutchfield for a couple reasons. I was getting a lot of misinformation from the other types of dash conversion kits. For one, it was difficult to find where to buy it from, though it did turn up on Amazon (Canada for me)...

    Help on base stereo upgrade

I've decided to try this style unit: Ford Explorer Android GPS Navigation Car Stereo (2010-2015) It's got android auto, it's still got some actual buttons and knobs, and it keeps the head unit up top. Probably will take forever to get this done but I'll endeavour to come back and update when...

Ya, that one looks pretty interesting. But who really knows...scares me a bit. Is pretty much impossible to find any reviews or people who have done this.

    Help on base stereo upgrade

Has anyone upgraded their base stereo with either of these two products? I feel like these are pretty much the only two viable options to get all the featues for speaker upgrades and subs: S160 Android Auto head unit upgrade for Ford Explorer Metra Dash and Wiring Kit

    Help on base stereo upgrade

Interesting, I didn't know of pigtails before. I will research. However, that stock is quite limited and this might me my chance to get a feature-rich deack with Android Auto or something...I just wish I didn't have to buy that expensive Metra dash kit. Btw, I opened up the doors and dash to...

    Help on base stereo upgrade

Joe, I take it you have the typical touch screen style receiver/head unit? And that unit had slots to plug in your sub wires? As far as I can tell, there's no such connections available in the back of my stereo. Nick

    Help on base stereo upgrade

As I said, I searched extensively, which is why I'm now asking my own questions in my own thread. Those threads don't apply to me, which is why I'm asking my own questions in my own thread. I don't need to understand how to install a $1200 system in a 12-speaker sony system. That's doesn't apply...

    Help on base stereo upgrade

Help on base stereo upgrade Hi all, I've search around and really can't find advice on my scenario. I have a 2011 Base Explorer with the base stereo, that's 6 speakers and no sub. I want a better system but it's been hard to find out details and answer my questions. I'd like to make everything...
