    Flat tow package value

Thanks! It was 4x4 4.0L. A very quick Google search was $7-10k for a new install, so was hoping for more. 🤑 They're offering $3,200 for 25yr old w/ 250k miles, so can't complain. Can't believe they actually bothered to do a repair estimate $11k.

    Flat tow package value

Looks like my 99 Ford Explorer XLT will be totaled. 🥹 How value does having a flat tow package provide? Asking so I can include it in the settlement. TIA

Air Compression when closing Read Hatch

Yeah, it was fun trying to find them, dealer at least gave me part numbers. Trying to find the root cause right now. With the doors & windows closed, I can feel the air pressure trying to blow past the rear window as I close the tailgate. With a window, even slightly cracked, I don't get...

Air Compression when closing Read Hatch

Have a 1999 Explorer XLT. When I close the rear hatch there is a fair amount of air compression, enough to eventually work the screws out of the rear window. It does not happen if a door or window is open. Is there a vent or something that could be plugged? TIA John

    99 explorer replacement cost?

Have a 99 explorer w/ flat tow option that needs some engine & transmission work. What would be typical replacement value? Wondering if better to repair or replace? TIA

    Tired of tailgating

I want to mount a mirror to the ceiling that swings down and shows them their own lights! ;)

Flat tow 98 Ford explorer 4x4

Would it happen to have the Neutral Tow kit installed? The engine wouldn't be running anyways, so I doubt the power steering would be an issue. Just have to leave the steering wheel unlocked.

What just fell from my brake pedal?

99 Explorer XLT Was feeling around under my brake pedal to start figuring out my cruise control issue, when this 'cover' fell into my hand. I can't find any diagrams that show it. Googling the 'part numbers' did not turn up anything useful. Any ideas? Top: PBT+Rubber Bottom: EPC 3 E-2138...

Do I need to update PCM?

New to me 99 XLT Explorer. No issues that I know of, just wondering if an update is worth looking into? TIA

Flat tire - spare is totally different tire - how bad is this?

Then I end up with a 10yr old spare tire. Which is what I got when I just bought it used.:whitenavajo:

Ford ESP at dealer cost to forum members

Probably a stupid question, but I'll take the risk. :snicker::) Are there warranties for a '99 with 180k miles on it?

Flat tire - spare is totally different tire - how bad is this?

How much does tire wear matter? Same tires, but one has half tread and other is same age but unused (ie spare)?

    Explorer won't start, chewed wires.

You'd think after all these years, someone would of found the secret ingredient for wires, that would deter them. :banghead:;)

    '99 Explorer Vibrates @ 60-70 MPH

It was new to me 2+ years ago, those were the tires that were on it. Was told original owner only used it as a TOAD behind his RV. The shape it was in I'd believe it was also garaged. Only registered in TX & AZ, so not much nasty weather.

    '99 Explorer Vibrates @ 60-70 MPH

Toyo, no model on the tire. Manf date 2002 week 18. They're 18 year old tires, so they're legally old enough to do want they want. ;) You folks are making me learn more about tires then I ever expected to.🤣

    '99 Explorer Vibrates @ 60-70 MPH

Yeap, it did turn out to be a separated tire. Not sure if image shows it well enough.

    '99 Explorer Vibrates @ 60-70 MPH

Stopped at Discount for a nail in another tire, and guess what they say? "You know this other tire is separating?" On the bright side they pointed out that the 9 yr old spare was starting to dry rot, so got 2 new tires and a trustworthy spare. :)

    '99 Explorer Vibrates @ 60-70 MPH

It had developed slowly, figured it was just tires, so had Discount balance and rotate. No change, so had mechanic look at it during oil change. He thought a bad balancing job, so redid it himself. And still no help, so I'm here. 🤔😋

    '99 Explorer Vibrates @ 60-70 MPH

Have a '99 Explorer that vibrates @ around 65MPH. To me, seems as coming from right rear, but mechanic friend who rode along thinks from right front. Tires are balanced and rotated (twice). Everything seems reasonably tight underneath. Any suggestions where to start looking?
