I doubt that it's required for the PIU. I'm not sure what the Civilian Explorer's have, but the PIU doesn't have a gas cap that twists off. You just stick the nozzle in and start filling the tank. But the outer cover is what has the issue. (side note - the issue resolved itself. Hasn't happened...

Interesting. I wonder why. Seems like it would be a useful message (when working properly) for all Explorers.

I'll just add it to the ever growing list of issues for my warranty repair appointment. I think it would be tough to diagnose with a voltage meter since the issue is so inconsistent.

I'm not sure that it's "Important", but I liked the sticker being there. Ford OEM decals and warning stickers are usually like $6. So if anyone had the part number, I'd say it's important enough for me to drop a few bucks on it.

That's so weird to me. A couple people mentioned that they enabled it via IDS for your generation PIU. Have you tried doing that yet? I've tried finding it in FDRS (2020+ doesn't support IDS) but was unsuccessful. But I have IDS and it looks pretty straight forward. I don't have my 2016 anymore...
