Sloop - I don't know if you've had this installed yet. I have the 5301 installed on my explorer and love it. Just an fyi, I started the install (not a novice when it comes to electronics in cars) and had several issues with the install. I lost patience and had a friend who worked at Best Buy...

I have the same problem, got a mechanic stethoscope and traced it to the first "expansion chamber" (at least thats what i think it is) on my exhaust. Pretty sure its just a loose baffle in there.

don't know about what other symptoms would be associated with the oom12 kit repair, but 192 sounds like a great deal... i'd get that in writing before they start.

Or you can hit a pick n' pull junk yard. Get the leaf springs off a 4 door explorer and install those... just look for the newest EX with low miles. EDIT - *Forget I said anything, for some reason I thought you were talking about a Sport X* My bad

yeah it was easy, just the follow the instructions and like Howard said, give yourself plenty of time and dont rush it. g'luck with that.

do you need to change the hubs as well, if you're only changing the wheel bearings on a 4x4?

the oom12 kit should only cost about 50 dollars from Ford. I recently did the fix and it went flawlessly. Runs great now. the Kit from Ford has the everthing you need, but its recommended you spend a couple extra bucks for a copper washer for the timing chain tensioner.

so its impossible to change the timing chains without the "ford special tool"? I was gonna go in and change mine out on the SOHC this thanksgiving break.

i've got a pa/cb on my X, just be carefull with the fuzz. they wont be to stoked but cant really do anything in cali. not against the law, just more of a nuisance and if they got nothing to do, you're gonna be talking with them for a couple of minutes.

cool, my major concern would be putting extra stress on the torsion bars. Is it something to be concerned about or am i "stressing" (yes pun was intended) over nothing?

I was under the impression that you could only get at the most 1.5 inches by doing the Torsion bar Twist up front. Am i wrong about that? And doesn't maxing the Torsion bar put a lot of stress onto it? just curious before i try anything like that. And would the X look weird if it has full...

You can also try THULE racks, they're cheaper than YAKIMA racks but will get the job done.

How do you "burp" the radiator free of air? i know its a noob question, but its stopped me from flushing my radiator on my own.
