Is there a way to pull the ABS codes on a 98 Explorer without having a scan tool?

I need to find out which trans I have. It's a 98 Explorer XLT, 4 door, 4.0 EFI v6, 4x4. I got under it but it's not marked anywhere. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

It normally starts fine, but occasionally it is hard to get turned over. Seems to come and go. Any ideas? 4L OHV

The 98 XLT we just purchased has power door locks, but the owner doesn't have a keyless remote. Is there a way to find out if it has keyless entry already and the remote is just lost? If it doesn't, isn't there a way to add keyless entry to it? My wife would really like to have it. Thanks.

How do I know if my 4.0 is the SOHC or not?

98 XLT, single CD/tape player. I know this is a fairly common problem (display on stereo not lighting up). I was wondering what kind of HU's people replaced them with and how you filled up the leftover space in the opening if you used a standard size HU.
