Why did you tap the hole in the pump? There should be no water coming out of the hole, right? Mine is broken off about an inch above the front cover. I was just going to leave it.......

Broke the upper right bolt. Broke off at the head. NO WAY I am taking the front of this engine off at 281,000 miles. What now? Do I need to remove the bolt, or can I just pretend it's not there and rtv it up?

Thanks for the info here. Getting ready to do mine this weekend. Somebody who is going to change plugs also ought to think about blowing out the spark plug recesses BEFORE you take the plugs out, just to be sure nothing falls into the holes.

Great. I put about 200 miles on it like that. I have switched tires and now it seems ok, but how do I tell if I ruined the AWD? There seems to be no indication that it is transfering power, ie: no dash light or whatnot. I sure hope I did not kill it as I drive 59 miles r.t. to work and back on...

Problem solved........I think. Took out the 15 amp fuse that controls everything. When I visually inspected it, it appeared fine. Then I checked it with a tester. Fine. So I swapped it with the 15 amp fuse right next to it........and everything works. Not sure what the problem is. Maybe a...

'03 Exp Limited. Lost all power to all instruments, gages, radio, power windows, heat/ac controls. ANY Ideas would be helpful. It does not appear that one fuse controls all of this. HELP!!!!

Yes, that is the part # for the shorter belt that allows you to take the pump out of the pulley loop. My pump froze up, so that was my only option. As far as I can tell it provides no noticeable MPG improvement. I drive 56 mi. a day.

Duralast 835K6 is the correct belt for the bypass. The internet is the most FANTASTIC place ever! I would like to thank AMMO_HOOAH for posting this info. I had no idea how I was getting to work tomorrow. This is a great example of how to post information so that people can find it. Thanks again.

wow. how embarrassing for me. That would be why it says "Normal" - "Off Road". It is the selector for ride stiffness probably. I never considered that. And here I thought I was well versed. Thank you very much, this forum is most helpful.

I have seen the posts here on the many people with 2002 Explorers that have had to replace the 4wd module behind the glove box. My question is, is this module the same in the 97's? Is it located in the same spot? -Moved the switch this morning to "off road" and......nothing. No dash light...

Only three of the buttons work. I had a shot at one on E-bay, but forgot about it. How much are they new? Does anyone have a good one they want to part with? I know that it is popular to remove them for more storage.
