    clunking in 4wd

It doesn't make any noise when locked and in 2wd. There is however some drag but i guess that would be because of the diff being driven by front wheels. the sound is worse under load IE: accelerating makes more noise than coasting.

    clunking in 4wd

I have read a few messages about front end noises when in 4wd. They all relate to auto hubs... what about manual hubs? It snowed today and when i locked the hubs (manual)and put it into 4wd, 4wd light didn't come on and i heard/felt clunking (or grinding) in the front diff. would this be just...

    Alot of White smoke

The pressure in the rad was due to a bad thermostat and bad pump. I just replaced the rad, pump and thermostat.

    Alot of White smoke

Well all, thank you all for your help! I went to a mechanic friend of my dads and we narrowed it down to either a cracked or warped head. Gasket is definately shot.

    Alot of White smoke

what is the best way to tell if a head is cracked without taking it off? I had no heat and fluid was leaking out the weep hole in the bottom of the pump... I asked around about it and everyone told me the pump was shot. I went to get a pump and on my way back (even though i filled the rad that...

    Alot of White smoke

    Alot of White smoke

No. there was no water in the cylinders and none that spit out the plug holes. What is the MAS sensor? where is it located?

    No more heated air.....

hardest part is removing the clutch fan. make sure you do that b-4 you remove the pump from the engine or remove the belt! It requires a "special ford tool" which I thought i DIDN'T need but wound up getting anyways. everything else is a walk in the park. 1.Empty your rad. 2.remove the fan...

    Alot of White smoke

Hey all, i'm fairly new here. I have a question... I have a 91 xlt. Recently swampped the intake. No damage done except i now have a LARGE amount of white smoke comming out my exaust when she does a cold start. There are little puffs when she is warm. No more heated air.....

I just had the same problem... check your water level... if it is a little low then your water pump is toast. My pup would still spin, minimal leakage but no hot air. I changed the pump then boom. I have hot air again!

Ok not sure how to put this

I have a 91 4dr explorer... I feel the manual transmission is a godsend when climbing the hills or playing in the mud. With automatics, you cant really control how slow you go and you can't really use engine compression when wanting to go downhill slowly.
