    need thermostat help...

I have been fighting this with my 92 since I swapped the engine last november. I am not a mechanic, but I guess since I swapped the engine myself, I could be some kinda monkey wrench or something. I think I may have mine fixed but time will tell. IMO what is going on with the temperature...

    Mileage on original transmission

 145k and still going, engine swapped at 140K, probably should have pulled it and had it rebuilt , but "objects no money" with me so run it till I can't then deal with it. This is the 4 speed automatic, 4.0 liter efi. 4X4. Great ride. Rick

    Sorry stupid question!

A bit of an update. In the snow, after everything is engaged, accelerating hard, I sping the back and front wheels, so it appears the 4wd is engaging and the hubs are working. The light below the tachometer does not light up, but the 4X low light does illuminate when I push oin the 4 low...

    Sorry stupid question!

How do i tell if my 4X4 is working. We're getting snow today in Reno. I am out driving, and I give it a little gas when taking off from a stop sign. I get a little tire spin, so i push in the button, gun it a bit and it seems to pull. I hear what I believe to be the transfer case kicking in...

    Automatic Hub Exploded View Diagram

Me too! I could really use help with the hubs too. I have a 92 with auto hubs and have got a set of used hubs (one good and one bad) from a great guy on this site. I removed the tire and the hublock assembly, there was no keeper on the lug bolt. I could not see anything that looked like it...

    auto hubs, spare longblock

I am in need of a set of hubs for my 1992 xlt. It sounds like at least one of my autos is gone. I know manuals are better but my 4X4 time is limited but not as much as my cash. I just replaced the engine in my XLT with a salvage yard spare. My old one has 144K, lifter noise and was sucking...

    4X4 busted??

My 92 Ex has 140K. Automatic with automatic hubs. When I push button to engage 4X4, I get no 4X4 light, and a grinding sound. The noise disappears when I let off of the gas. It feels like the front wheels are engaging but I guess I am not sure. My friend says auto hubs are crap and are...

    Factory Sub Wiring

Assuming phaseing is like other audio home systems, just reverse the wires back and forth and listen for the best bass sound. Sometimes it doesn't make much difference. Rick

    Spare longblock

I just got through replacing the engine in my 92 explorer. The salvage yard did not need a core. The one I removed had tappet noise, oil consumption , one quart every 300 miles, fluctuating oil pressure, and 140K miles. No push rods came out the side so it should be rebuildable. Is this...

Who's stock tranny has outlasted mine??

Still Going? At 144K my trans is still gong but I swapped the engine out last week for a used one with only 122k on it.

    Lifter noise is gone!!!

Lifter noise too!!! My 92 XLT developed intermittent lifter noise that became consistent. I talked to a Ford and they suggested with 144K that I should have them swap the engine for about $6,000. They didn't recommend just the lifters for mine. Anyway my engine was not great. Oil...
